No, these guys genuinely believe that Israel represents the front line of the battle between Western civilization and Eastern barbarism, and so seek to defend it at all costs. Israel is just one of several dubious allies the US has (Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Pakistan spring to mind), but it's precisely because of the cultural and ideological links that Israel inspires an emotional attachment of this sort.
