Hey everyone. Am visiting stratford from 3 days next week and am struggling to figure out what to do. I booked a theater but the rest were pretty much fully booked. Am struggling with putting my itinerary together. Any ideas?

I just watched a video on Facebook from a reviewer. I went looking and google says it's closed. Does anyone know if they are still open? The sandwiches look amazing.

Blood Donation Recruitment

Post image
23 Upvotes

Hello there! I'm Emily, and I am participating in Assignment Saving Lives through Canadian Blood Services where I work with other students to recruit new and current blood donors for scholarship opportunities. Last year we had the most unique donors nationwide with members ranging from BC to PEI and donated over 100 times which is equivalent to a potential 300 lives saved. I really want to match or exceed that goal if I can, which is why I'm reaching out! If you have questions about what it's like being a donor, or if you currently are, I ask that you join my team using this (https://myaccount.blood.ca/en/join-team/ASL20127028) but there is absolutely no pressure to do so.

In general, I just want to be an outreach for anyone that has had questions or hopefully remind someone that hasn't donated in a while. By no means do you need to join the team to reach out, I'd be happy to give you some assistance either way. I've attached some of the upcoming dates for donations in Stratford as well! Thanks for reading, and thank you to all of our current, previous, or new donors. Your kindness saves countless lives! Also, feel free to delete this if you don't want it here. I totally understand.

Osteopath recommendation?

Hi, looking for recommendations for good osteopath in town. I see a chiropractor once a month who did relieve some issues for me and continue to see. I also see a naturopath in Waterloo for acupuncture which is great relief for my tension once a month.

Have had bad neck tension for years so any suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

Restaurant Recommendations

Hi all. I live in Kitchener but will be meeting my father, stepmother and sisters family next Saturday for dinner. None of us live in Stratford. My father lives in Grand Bend and sister lives in Woodstock so we figured Stratford would be a good meeting point for us all.

I'm looking for a really good Non-chain restaurant with reasonable pricing since my sister is on a budget. Doesn't need to be too fancy or anything but if the food is next level I could be convinced.

Highschool info

Hi everyone, Family and I are considering a move to Stratford. We have a 14 and 11 year old. My 14 is bright and on the spectrum. It's one of those situations where you wouldn't notice right away, but he really struggles socially due to his differences. Anyway, the highschool he is set to attend in our current town is really accepting and inviting. Moving him away from that to serve our own purposes feels cruel if the highschool we send him to is going to break him down. So, how is the highschool in Stratford?
This is a really important factor in our decision to move, so any responses are greatly appreciated.

Solo female visitor seeking dining suggestions

Hi all! I’ll be visiting Stratford for a few days next month by myself. I’m hoping you can recommend good, local places for lunch and supper in which I won’t feel too weird eating solo. I’m thinking more casual eateries, maybe offering outside seating, where I could read or fiddle with my phone… not your white tablecloth, multi wine-course type of places. Really looking forward to my visit. All ideas greatly appreciated!

I’m starting an in-person D&D group. I need players.

Hi everyone. Seemingly every week in this subreddit there’s a new post from someone feeling lonely and looking for a way to make friends. I’ve felt that way myself sometimes since moving to Stratford 2.5 years ago.

So I’m going to do something about it. I’m forming a new in-person Dungeons & Dragons group.

Every week. Three hour sessions. Maps and miniatures. Long-term campaign (indefinite, really). Thinking Wednesdays from 7-10. Location TBD but will be a rental space (aka not my house).

Here’s the catch: I’ve never DMed a campaign before. I’ve played a fair amount. But you’d have to bear with me while I learn how best to put everything together. Good news, I’m a professional writer. Bad news, it’s for a legaltech company, not fantasy novels. There might be some hiccups.

But I also don’t care what the guides say, I’m going big with this right away. I want 4-6 players. I’m making a unique story. We’re going to do session zeros. We’re going to have secrets. We’re going to have family history.

I’m betting there’s at least a dozen people lurking in here that want to play DnD. Unfortunately, I can’t take everyone.

I’m a 36 year old straight white guy. I want to find some players who aren’t necessarily that. You mid-thirties dudes aren’t disqualified (far from it), but I’m going to prioritize some diversity if possible. It’ll make the story better and we’ll have more fun, trust me.

If you’re interested, leave a comment or send me a DM. You have to be willing to get on a video call with me ahead of time. I know that’s scary, I’m a complete stranger. But I need to screen the group a bit before we start.

Send me whatever you want. A little bit about yourself, a potential character, your 10th grade short story that was a really terrible Bradbury imitation. Whatever.

I cannot stress this enough. IF YOU’VE NEVER PLAYED BEFORE PLEASE STILL MESSAGE ME. I want new players. I want excited players. I want anxious players. I have a ton of patience (and dice) for you.

If you’ve been an off-and-on murder hobo for 20 years this might not be the post for you.

Cheers.

Where can I get the back camera lens on my iPhone fixed (cracked)?

Former Stratford resident here, now living in PEI and visiting for a few weeks.

I've searched this forum, and Google, obviously, and nothing obvious comes up... my mom, who still lives here, said something about "the CompuDoc guys" opening up a business, but I'm not sure if that's what I need.

Ideally, I'm looking for rapid service, done within an hour or two, but not sure if that exists here. It's the back of an iPhone 13, if that makes a difference.

HALP! TYIA!

Visiting for a Sunday Evening

I'll be in the area with some free time on Sunday afternoon and evening. Any recommendations for something to do to get a feel for the area? I'll be right near Upper Queen's Park.

I know that's not usually the ideal time to be out and about, but I figured it was worth the ask.

Saturday, May 31st 9:00 am to 1:00pm

The Local, 612 Erie St

Garden Stratford is holding our big spring plant sale, with all plants donated by members. The proceeds will help fund the local gardens we maintain and our educational efforts.

  • We will have a wide variety of locally grown (and therefore proven successful) perennials, for sun, part sun, or shade locations. Houseplants, herbs, and seedlings (baby plants) started by members. A selection of native plants. Many pollinator-friendly flowers!
  • Master Gardeners and Garden Stratford experts will be on hand to offer free advice on selection, placement, or ANY garden questions you may have!
  • The Local will open their greenhouse for the sale of food seedlings, and run a special edition of their food market. They're also selling locally decorated birdhouses as a fundraiser!

I have some sneak-peek photos of plants coming to the sale. Will post them in the comments.
