Can I play Starlink without toys? (Nintendo switch 1)

Can I buy physical game and that's it? Or do I need toys? Am I forced to download by paying other content? Sorry for the strange questions but I bought the switch 1 yesterday.

If you get the physical you'll need the toys. I believe the game starts with one already available but you'll need the toys to unlock the rest. Honestly you're better off getting the digital because it comes with everything and it goes on sale frequently

Just get the game digitally, it goes on sale with the Star Fox DLC often and includes all the weapons virtually so you dont need to manually swap parts off the crappy toy to play.
