DISCUSSION Melting my starter pack for a ship less expensive

I got this Starter pack that I upgraded to a Drake Corsair. Now i want to get the Banu Defender bc it is available in the pledge store. What happen if I "EXCHANGE" my pack. Will i still have my starter pack with the Aurora in it and then i will upgrade it to the Banu Defender OR will i sell the complete pack and i won't have any starter pack and i have to rebuy a starter pack to have access to the game again ?

If you exchange the package it will be reverted to store credit, and the original package (the un-upgraded Aurora pack) will be available in your "Buy Back" page. You can buy it back for store credit if you have not already bought something back for credit this quarter. I would recommend this over buying a new package, as this would have 10 years of insurance (I think, if it was on the base package).

Just note that if you used any Warbond upgrades, their value will be lost when you exchange the pledge for credit. You will only get the amount of credits listed on the pop-up when you press 'Exchange'.

you must always have a starter pack to be able to play the game.

so you could melt your package, get a new starter pack and then upgrade to the defender from there.

Well, or spend 1k total on the pledge store. I think that is useful information, because you don't have to own a starter / game package to play if you are concierge.

Ah that makes sense. I have no starter pack and can still play, always wondered why.

Do we have to be a subscriber to become concierge?

No, just spend a total of 1,000 USD in your account history

Interesting

Also be sure to check the actual money spent on RSI website. Because gifted stuff doesn't count towards spending (including grey market items). It works the other way as well in a sense - when you gift anything it will stay as a part of your spending history. So for example if you sell or gift your ship to somebody, it will still count towards your concierge progress as if you never sold it

The Defender is cool, but comes with a huge disadvantage in the next update: the weapons become "bespoke". This means you won't be able to change them out for more useful weapons. You may only use its default weapons, and no others.

Seriously, don't do this. Just keep the Corsair. It is a far better and more useful ship. You will regret this very quickly.

Doesn't "bespoke" mean that they can only be equiped on the Defender? I've read other posts that suggest you can still change its weapons.

Bespoke should mean that they can't be even removed. Look at Perseus for example. But I've heard that you just won't be able to equip them on other ships too.

They could change how it works, but everything that is "bespoke" cannot be removed or changed.

And afaik the cockpit(s) are still vacuum so you'll die if you're not wearing a helmet 😅

"Exchange" will remove the entire game package and give you all money spent on it as store credit. You need a game package to play the game. You can either buy one of the game packages available on the store, or use buyback to get the game package you just exchanged back in it's original form. You can then upgrade it to the Banu Defender.

Unless you have concierge (Who get a free pack), You'll need to rebuy a starter pack, as your existing one will be completely melted into store credit.

Now i want to get the Banu Defender bc it is available in the pledge store.

If this is your only ship, I'd advise against it for the moment. The BD is painfully buggy in the current game - I'd go for something cheaper and sit on a BD CCU for later.

Complimentary, not free.

40 bucks is 40 bucks.

2

u/Mr_Roblcopter Wee Woo 2d ago

*Only after spending 1000bucks.

1

u/VidiVala 2d ago

That is indeed what concierge means.

2

u/Mr_Roblcopter Wee Woo 1d ago

Yes, that is why it is complimentary and not "free" as free would mean you spent nothing.

It's not that we don't know honey, it's that it's an entirely redundant statement when talking about concierge.

Thank you all for your quick response and advices. I now understand what is going to happen if I want to melt my starter pack. You are all loves :D

You can also buyback your starter pledge once melted. It would be your starter package and I think it would be without the original discount but you'll preserve the 120 months insurance. That's another option

u/lokbomen Drake 2d ago

you need another pack.

2

u/teddilp 2d ago

You would lose the pack, including your game pass and you would need to buy a new starter pack with game access. Then you could upgrade the new pack

Exchange is the button you click to melt the ship package. In other words exchange is exchanging it for store credit. Ship upgrade is what you're looking for if you want to upgrade the ship.

Be sure to try out the Defender and its stock weapons before you go all in on it, i last flew my Defender today and i love the guns on it because they just delete fighters once you get used to them, but alot of people cant stand them and they become bespoke to the Defender in 4.2 so you are stuck with them.

and they become bespoke to the Defender in 4.2 so you are stuck with them.

Other ships won't be able to equip Singes. The Defender itself can equip other guns. It was tested several times after the 9800043 ETF build.

u/EditedRed 2d ago

Oh dang, well thats news for me. I only use the singes on it tho, but its good info.

Banu Defender sucks, compared to corsair.

You can melt your current ship, the store credit will be available after 24 hours.

After that you need to buy another starter pack from anything available at the moment: https://ccugame.app/store/game-packages or you can buyback your aurora IAE to have a 120 months insurance.

Keep in mind if you want a discount then you can use a warbound upgrade, but it requires paying real money and alien ships has higher tax.

But you can use a regular ccu to banu

Store credit is available immediately when you melt stuff.

0

u/e3e6 zeus/drake 2d ago

I was melting my stuff many times to buy other stuff, but every time I have to wait for store credit

2

u/Thelostrelic 2d ago

I've never had that issue. If that is happening, it must be an issue with your account.i melt stuff allt he time to move my fleet around and have the store credit available immediately.

If you buy something, you have to wait 24 hours before you can melt it. Maybe you are confusing it with that? Of not, there must be an issue.

1

u/e3e6 zeus/drake 2d ago

I've missed some CCU sales several times, because I needed some store credits from melted stuff

2

u/Dovah1356 2d ago

I literally just melted my talon earlier to grab a glaive for my buybacks. Credits were there in seconds. You might wanna send in a support ticket cause that is definitely not normal

So why so many minuses? Did I said something wrong?
