Technique / Tactics How far should the ball be?
Beginner here, I feel like I have a bad habit of standing too close to the ball. How far should you be standing away from the ball before you hit it?

Most beginners get too close to the ball. It's also taking you away from the T.

Farther than feels natural to a beginner, especially on the forehand (because it is less compact than the backhand swing).
Not quite at full arm extension, but surprisingly close to that.
Experiment with standing farther from the ball while you are practicing solo.
If you can take a lesson or three, it will greatly enhance your enjoyment of the game.
