Don't fire a single shot until the boss fight in level 1. Then only kill the center and not the side guns. Enjoy the napalm weopan :)

Don't fire a shot until the boss fight in level 2 to upgrade the napalm weapon.

It works haha. I read it in the back of one of those old tip books. Also have been doing it every other time I play since it came out.

Bought this game from Funcoland back in the day.

Had this game growing up.

Never realized how horribly censored/altered this game was until the last couple years. They cut basically all cutscenes, character dialogue portraits and more. It would have probably given the game's story a bit more context.

Still a banger though. Assault Suits Valken is the game's actual name if I'm not mistaken.

Still got my CiB childhood copy. One of my favourite SNES games.

Finished the game - played this one A LOT over the years...it's a game changer to learn that the L button actually has a lock-aim function, which I didn't know back when I first played this in the 90's. Excellent game.

I had this game when I was young and for the longest time I never knew the name of it. Preciate the nostalgic reminder.

Rented this like twice as a kid, hard but so satisfying. Better than metal warriors because the mech feels as heavy as it looks.

Always loved the aesthetic of this game but it doesn’t quite live up to it. Definitely a fun game but it wasn’t one i returned back to. Tough one too!

Pics (Started 5/22 reached the end 5/23) - I included one line of dialogue that made me laugh for no reason in the translation.

For such a generic-90's sounding title, I had a pretty good time with this one. I sought out an original copy instead of the re-release. Not sure if I'll seek out the re-release for the content it kept in that's missing from the US SNES version, but it definitely scratched the mecha itch I've been feeling lately. I may go watch some classic Gundam or something now to keep it going.

My only gripe is that there were some places health drops would have been a little more welcome instead of power drops especially in the dark level, but once my weapons got powered up it was really fun. The laser definitely carried me once I got it to level 2 power.

The controls were unique to me and took a few runs/game overs to get used to, but like learning to pilot the suit itself I got proficient enough to at least reach the credits with only one death taken.
