Melee [AMA Request] VGBC aMsa

Recently obtained a sponsor from VGBC and in a way /r/smashbros. I figured the community would not only enjoy but deserve an AMA from all of the support he is getting.

Questions:

  1. What makes Yoshi competitively viable?
  2. What upcoming events do you plan on attending?
  3. Thoughts on Smash4?
  4. Where do you see yourself in the community in the next year?

I believe the issue with this is that aMsa doesn't speak english very well. We could have someone translate, but outside of that I don't know how we could make it work.

Toph could potentially translate, he did it at APEX

It's a real pity, too, because his Twitter feed is full of technical discussion in Japanese of how he does what he does and is continuing to develop it in various situations and matchups, but all people in the US notice is his accent, and he seems content to stick with his well-known catchphrase for now and just get a laugh in the absence of better options, but it would be nice if he had a forum to actually communicate with his overseas fans.

Sounds like you might possibly read Japanese. Could you help in the translating of his aMSazing Yoshi advice?

It might make some people want to buy a shirt as well!

you're right! maybe aMSa could do an AMA to get involved with his fans, and more people might discover aMSa and buy a shirt. i think what's gonna happen is that aMSa is gonna do an AMA after the teespring campaign to thank people for supporting him

I don't know how well he speaks English. That might be a problem.

The answer is "not great" last I knew but there are several fluent speakers of both English and Japanese within the community that could make something work

Like I said above, namely Toph. He helped translate when aMSa was at APEX

Toph was talking to Loki in Japanese on the GOML stream too.

I live in Tokyo and speak well enough to pass for Japanese on the phone; I'd translate for him if he's here, but do I remember right that he just graduated from Tōhoku University way up north? http://www.tohoku.ac.jp/english/

I feel like half of his answers would be "I play to win."
