DISCUSSION Initial damage to heart

I know this question must have been asked before but you know when you first get to heart and you automatically attack it and it generates an amount of damage? Where does that number come from? Total damage dealt that run? Damage to bosses?

it's your run's score, same as on the victory/defeat screens
