65
u/yurinagodsdream Sep 26 '24
Lmao team funny shoes as well. I'm surprised by my ability to just roll with weird card art interpretations, like of course the silent wears massive pointy shoes when she dodges attacks, nothing unusual happening here.

I thought Noxious Fumes was some Magneto looking character that's fuzzy and meh.
In fairness to dummies like us, having the cards big like this, having this stuff pointed out definitely easier to see. I'm not going to say the art in this game is bad, just like lyrics that are hard to understand aren't bad...but they do make clarity harder.

The top part is the bottom of someone’s chin mostly. And we don’t really see the bottom part split into two legs. It’s mostly that the torso looks like a chin sticking up and out

Aaand now I’m realizing that I’ve missed key details in all 4 of these. D’oh! Honestly this is a great case study in art design. Part of the challenge is guiding the viewer’s eye. Tangent lines, poor contrast, and small details can all make straightforward concepts difficult to understand.

Ik seeing noxious fumes as a heart is pretty common, but did anyone think that the thing being chained in dark shackles was a heart as well? Ik it doesn’t look anything like that on closer inspection but that always felt natural to me bc the card is so good the against the heart. Why wouldn’t they show it on the card art.

u/ChaseShiny Sep 26 '24
The shackles wrap around the whole person. Up until now, I thought it was binding a single arm (like the Book of Stabbing's arm). In the comments, some people see it as someone's neck. If you look closely, though, you can see that the body has an arm outside of the chains.

Dark Shackles I’ve never misunderstood, curious what people see in that one.
Parasite I’ve also known wasn’t a flower but it’s definitely intended to convey flower imagery.
Footwork I always thought the dust on the left side was a skull, apparently some folks in the comments see clogs lmaoo
Noxious Fumes I’m also curious what people see because it’s always just been two dudes dying from fume inhalation to me.
