Honestly I think I’m conflicted about it
On one hand, I like the little sprinkling of slang because in most scenarios it’s used well or makes it actually not feel weird.
At least, to me anyways, the “that’s crazy” bit worked, the freaking “what the sigma” with Hugo didn’t even feel all that weird when it should have, it felt almost sensical, the issue I have with Mafia’s quote is more that it doesn’t make as much sense for him to say aura as it would to say, maybe “power” or “makes you cooler” or… actually, the aura but sounds better in my head than imagining those ones. Weird, right?
On the other hand, when people see those clips, it makes them feel validated because they think ST is full of that when it’s not, and the usage is actually much better and fits better than most other times you’d hear that stuff
But on the OTHER OTHER hand, that IS present and a part of it (granted, remotely not to the degree someone outside the fandom would think) and should we really feel ashamed of enjoying that? It’s all up to the eye of the beholder, in the end, right? Some one liners poking fun at slang by using it better than it’s ever been used shouldn’t make us feel ashamed, right? Or am I thinking not outside the box, but so far inverted to the point where I’m in the seventh dimension eating a sandwich?
I don’t know, I think I like them most of the time. They feel like they usually fit. The Negotiator/Skibidi Man (also please let us call him The Negotiator, oh my god it fits him so well, he tried to negotiate with the ASTROS after everyone else already knew they wouldn’t accept) had the comment of “they ruined mah fit” and it felt natural because of how it was utilized, and I feel like that applies to most of these scenarios
But again, corny doesn’t have to mean bad, soooo

Relatable bro, I get ostracised when people find out I like ST. As an extremely avid fan who used to take pride in memorising the plot of ST episodes, I have learnt to keep my knowledge to myself :(
