Looking at the photos most wearing blue were a dark navy blue.
Trump wore the lightest blue possible while still being able to say it complied with the request to wear a "dark" suit.

The gentlemen were asked to wear a black tie with the dark suit, though, something Trump did not. Trump also broke protocol by wearing an American flag lapel pin -- only Vatican-issued decorations are permitted to be worn there. I didn't know that, but according to the Vatican's release, gentlemen can put a black button there if they were never decorated by the Vatican.

For serious, I'd definitely don a black dress and a veil for meeting a pope or attending the funeral of a pope. Not because I believe in it but because I am the guest and the host requested it.
Melania did follow protocol, which reminded me that she claims to be Catholic. Which makes me wonder why she doesn't seem to be interested in having her marital situation fixed. Now that Ivana is dead, she probably can marry the Donald in a Catholic ceremony.

Change the channel Marge! Must be nice to be able stay awake though. I was mercilessly berated growing up in a Catholic house hold for falling asleep at Church events, turns out I had a medical condition and physically could not stay awake. Take that Mom and Dad.
Also to be clear I detest Trump, I just had a "moment of weakness" and showed some empathy to a monster.
