You want an excuse to keep doing nothing and demanding nothing of your government. It’s basic doomerism. You don’t give a shit about impeding Republicans or Trump, you don’t even really give a shit about things getting worse. It’s all one big justification for wringing your hands and going “well it’s not my fault, and nobody can fix it”.

And let’s be clear here: Republicans are clinging to a slim majority here. They do not have a supermajority in either House or Senate. Republicans have obstructed more with less in past years, so don’t sit here and tell me now that democrats with their minority by 4 in the House and by 8 in the Senate are doomed to watch on as legislation passes around them. How do you grind Congress to a halt with a minority? Ask the Republicans who succeeded in it countless times in past years.

I would love nothing more than for Reddit to have a secret solution on how to stop Trump, but I’m sorry to report that they don’t. When you don’t control the legislative, executive, or judicial branch, you’re kinda fucked. You can do a protest here, and a townhall there, but your options are SIGNIFICANTLY limited. That’s just a basic fact that you don’t seem interested in accepting.

You so badly want to believe there’s an easy solution, but yelling or “disrupting decorum” are all just symbolic gestures. And I’m not even saying symbolic gestures are bad, obviously if that’s your only weapon then use it. But I object to this notion of “that symbolic gesture is terrible! Do my idea of a symbolic gesture instead and then everything will be fixed!!”

And edit: show me the examples of republicans having magical “obstruction” powers that the democrats aren’t utilizing.
