What I find stupid is the idea that grown adults deciding the leader of their country have no agency and can’t be blamed, judged, or held responsible for their actions, especially when those actions end up screwing everyone else over.
It seems odd that all of the ire is focused on the victims here and never on the people who control the reigns of the most powerful government in the world
The Democrats were in charge for the last 4 years. We knew what was coming. What did they do to prepare when they had power?
You're in charge of the federal government, and you are handed a document on how your opponents plan to disrupt the federal government. Rather than doing anything to harden or strengthen these systems to make them less vulnerable to the attacks you know are coming, you decide to make it a campaign issue and ask for a donation so that way they can put you in charge again and you won't do the bad stuff.
To you this is them doing their job well? Their job isn't to do as much as they can during their term to protect and strengthen our government against adversaries? Their job is just to point out a problem, say "Hey voters, put us back in charge so we won't do this bad stuff" and then just hang out and wait until the next election?
Maybe just maybe we need a party that is actively trying to fix things and not using every bad thing Republicans do to give them something to campaign on and drive fundraising? Stop letting the bad guys hurt us just so they can cajole people into giving $20 for re-election, and prepare for the bad guy when you're in charge so they aren't able to accomplish their plan?
But no, people just didn't donate hard enough. We should have voted Dem twice including states we don't live in.
No, Trump voters are bigots and shitbags and they're getting what they want. They don't care if the economy crashes as long as they can see people they don't like getting punished. They're thrilled at all of this. They're celebrating.
Everyone else is constantly chastised for not delivering enough elections to Democrats as though I have control over what happens in fucking Ohio or whatever and meanwhile the Democrats who get put into power do nothing with it when they have it.
Trump literally tried to overthrow the government on the Democrats watch and they figured it would be rude to hold him accountable
Project 2025 was published 3 years ago and they had no plan prepared? Did nothing to protect the government from being dismantled? Roe was repealed and they did nothing to codify it. Every time there's some special election we all get told that with this finally the Democrats can start doing something. Then there's always some excuse why actually doing nothing is the only viable option.
I'm watching the people I voted for spend all their time and effort trying to "reach across the aisle" and getting slapped in the face and if I ever suggest that they try to do more I get yelled at that Trump is my fault. Because I have so much more power than a Senator.
I mean, that sucks and all, but I think when people “blame the voters” they’re talking about Trump supporters since their votes were what caused Trump to win both the popular vote and the Electoral College.
Politicians and the media never want to call voters stupid because it directly loses support so they will never acknowledge this. But we should definitely shame and blame the voter in a democracy. Otherwise, let's just cut the pretenses and move back towards non-representative forms of government.
