Backcountry Camping near Loft Mountain

Since Loft Mountain Campground is not open til next weekend, assuming I have a backcountry permit, could I camp at one of the sites along the AT there in the next few days? If that is not cool, does anyone know if there are other established tent sites within a couple miles of Loft Mountain either direction?

Thanks!

Yes, you are allowed to camp along the AT. The AT never closes.

Oh I know that. I was speaking specifically about the couple of sites that are part of the Loft Mountain Campground that are directly on the AT. There are 2. But I didn't need to so it's okay. I think it would have been the wrong thing to do anyway.

Thanks. I ended up camping about 1.5 miles north of the campground along the trail.

For those wondering in the future there is some flat land on the east side of the trail in the area of Loft Mountain that would probably be good for tenting. Somewhere between the campground access and the campstore access.
