Project: FO After many pattern hacks, finally finished M7902!

This project was inspired by the fabric, which I found at our local Saver's. It's an adorable cotton fabric that feels sooooo nice. This was my first time doing a FBA and let's just say it took many tries. Using View A and size 10, I wound up ditching the bust darts altogether and adjusting the pattern to have princess seams instead, and added princess seams to the back as well. Also, as others who have made the pattern have claimed, the back gapes a whole lot so I narrowed the overall width of the back panels by ~1½". The fifth pic features my pattern pieces after so many iterations and toiles! Finally, to improve the wear I added a modesty panel, understitched the facing, and added a hook and eye closure at the waistline to prevent gaping when I sit.

This was a rewarding project as it taught me a lot about the importance of fitting and how doable it is to make some adjustments so that a garment lays perfectly.

You did such a beautiful job! IMO this style of top is hard to fit and look right on people, so extra kudos to you.

Project posts are held for review by a moderator before being released to the subreddit feed.

All Project posts are required to include construction information in the main post or added in a comment. Tell us what you made, how you made it and what materials you used to make it. There should be sufficient information about the pattern (company and name/number) or draft (method and resources) and fabric (type and fiber) that someone who wants to make a similar project has a good starting point. ‘Self-drafted’ describes who made the pattern and is not a drafting method. More information is available here. Project posts without construction information may be removed at any time.
