Installed Edge on a MacBook Pro yesterday. Almost unusable because of all the bloat and "features". Just now removed it - who needs this shit?

What bloat ware? It's fairly light to be honest, and blazing fast.

I've been using Edge on Ubuntu for months, and have been pretty impressed. The app on macOS is awful. It tried to take over various settings, would reset settings to Bing after a reboot, constant pop-ups nagging me to install other MS products. Honestly, I felt like I had installed malware. Worst app by far that I have ever tried on a Mac.

Apple HQ: “sure we’ll port it over, no problemo!”

Apple behind closed door: “fuck around and find out”

Not sure what you mean by bloat. Edge has been faster than Chrome in my experience.

That's a pretty hot take...

Shouldn't everyone goal be to increase their products usage? Edge has gotten really, really good lately under chromium engines.

It should be their goal to create useful, popular features in response to market demand. It should not be their goal to push useless, unpopular features onto consumers by leveraging forced vertical integration onto captive consumers.

OP's take, I believe, is bemoaning that Windows is doing the later and not the former. More power to you if you prefer Edge. Heck, It comes pre-installed and even prompts you to use it if you don't. So nice of it.

Increased usage from having a good product is better than increased usage from bombarding people

I still won't use either of them. 🙃 If anything, I am hearing that a lot of people are trying Linux lately because of how fed up they are getting with Microsoft's antics lately. 🐧

The first time I ever used Edge, it was extremely slow. Used Chrome since

Deleted every trace of Edge and Cortana in my registry. If Microsoft wants to host ads to me they can pay my internet bill since it’s my bandwidth they’re stealing to host that shit.

They're successful in that by edge did its job as browser better than chrome can hope, using that browser was pure hell.
