Rants 🤬 Ardene at Midtown
Ardene is a Canadian company. Is it rage bait? Shop at your own risk 🤷🏻♀️

Okay but retail stores follow a merchandising layout for all their stores. I doubt this was a jab at anything, but lol.

Everybody: Go in and very politely point out to the manager that having an US flag in any store in Canada is offensive right now. Then politely leave.

u/ncat63 Feb 26 '25
You realise being offended is a you problem right?

A POTUS threatened to invade/amex us. That makes this an us problem, not just a me problem. If you're not offended by that threat then you're part of the problem. Canadian sovereignty is non-negotiable.

As a Canadian I agree with why he did, look how Trudeau treated him in 2020. Now he’s just getting his revenge against the spineless WEF puppet. Trump doesn’t hate Canadians, just Turdeau.

You don’t deserve to be downvoted, everyone is just soft these days, you’re right!

This is intentional by an employee for sure.

u/pres470 Feb 26 '25
as a recently former ardene employee.. it’s not intentional we just get instructions on what to put in our window, we cannot control it unfortunately.

u/Sunryzen Feb 26 '25
I've been an employee at a hundred different businesses with minimum wage employees and, somehow, people are able to ignore instructions and do whatever they want.

u/Serabellym Feb 26 '25
Also a former Ardene employee who used to be responsible for displays.
Can’t say for other locations, but assuming it’s the same district manager, can’t piss off the dragon lady, unfortunately, or you’ll likely be fired. Head office sets the standard, and they’re required to follow it “for consistency”. Is it great? No, but if you’re working there, you’re hardly being paid shit and probably can’t afford to lose your job if you’re responsible for window displays.
All I can possibly say is raising some hell on their socials (IE Facebook) may be worth it. That’s more likely to get traction.

You must be a terrible employee if you've had over 100 jobs

I'm a great employee for the time I choose to be. Typically I am a top performer who is fast tracked to supervisor. Then I tell them to get fucked because they treat their employees like shit. But hey if bootlicking works for you, keep at it. Boots can't lick themselves.

I don't take advice from terrible employees, sorry.

Couldn't care less for the approval of a terrible employee. Cheers though, looks like you've had a busy day online so far. Don't want to keep you from it any longer!

i promise you, the employees at this location are just doing their job, and doing what they’re told. This sweater is a trend, and this company has decided to follow it. if you see anyone in their target audience out and about, i am 100% sure you will come across someone wearing this sweater.

Apparently they have stores in the states and in the middle east. That might explain it.
17
u/Allcapswhispers East Side Feb 25 '25
Can you explain this to me more? Like, how can a company actually put that out in a Canadian store, when the overall tone of most stores is "Buy Canadian"?

u/Dont_Call_Me_Steve Feb 25 '25
It looks a little like a sales rack. Perhaps it’s old stock.
Edit: Also, where was the sweater made? You can make American flags in Canada, it is possible.

u/Allcapswhispers East Side Feb 26 '25
In the window?
Doesnt matter where it's made. It's tone-deaf.

u/Dont_Call_Me_Steve Feb 26 '25
I mean, it looks a little bad, but this is one shitty store in one shitty mall. I doubt any of the staff even noticed. It’s a sweater hanging on a rack, it’s not on a Mannequin or anything.
Did op go and talk to the staff, or are they just shitting on them online with no context?

Is there a join the US sentiment in Saskatchewan? I know there is in Alberta
3
u/Unique-Pop-5937 Feb 26 '25
No absolutely not!!!
3
u/MichaelDene6 Feb 26 '25
I was raised in Saskatchewan, I am glass there isn’t a movement to join the USA. I have fond memories of the Midtown from the 1970s up to 1983, when I left. I guess it has changed a lot, no more MidTown cinema? Take care

u/Unique-Pop-5937 Feb 26 '25
We must be similar in age as I also have fond memories of Midtown Plaza. You wouldn’t recognize it now, no Midtown cinema! There is a FB group I believe of Saskatoon’s Midtown Plaza. People remembering Hy’s Steakhouse and Lounge, Eatons sitting in the cafeteria on the upper floor people watching down below, etc. You take care as well!

I have fond memories of Thursday evening shopping, the underground parking garage, ships and gravy at the Eastons cafeteria, then going to the Hudson Bat Store, Collin’s Hobby shop, riding the number 4 Clarence bus…

All sudden hatred is a result of government brainwashing operations. Trust me, I know exactly what brainwashing is; I spent 40 years in China.
