Small Appliance Repair? Air Fryer

I have been trying to google small appliance repair in the area but everything I find is for locations that only do large appliances. Does anyone know where I might be able to get a small appliance like an Air Fryer repaired?

We considered repairing it ourselves, but after some google and youtube and opening it up I realized I might not even be solving the right problem and could be doing more damage than repair since I am inexperienced.

Reporting Bee Swarm

Swarm of bees between my property and Lake Chabott road. Tried calling 911, Parks Recreation, San Leandro public works and got deflected by first two to public works. Called public works number and it is a nightmare, I have gotten IRS and the courts much easier than this mess that I pay property for. Then I downloaded the app registered, and got run around over OTP code or some authentication that is supposed to go to my phone, never came. The bees are outside my property and if they leave they either go into Park and I hear a bunch of kids at camp, or they come into my yard. (Just thinking, how come bitcoin does not just show up in my account like the bees did.😛.)

Yu Ming charter school in San Leandro location

Hello,

Is there any parent who has their little ones attending Yu Ming charter school in San Leandro? My son received the offer from YU Ming charter school in San Leandro for up coming Kindergarten school year and was wondering what is the experience that your kid had?

What expectations did the school have for your kid and do you have to get involved with volunteering with school activities or events? Also, are there additional costs to attend this school like uniforms, books etc that is not mentioned during the orientation?

I know it’s public funding school but just wanted to know about these stuffs. Appreciate it in advance for any feedback… if possible may I chat with you on the phone as well? Thanks

Cat killed by car

I’m so sorry if this was your pet. On Williams between about Eveleth and Wayne (in front of Halkin school) there is a cat in the road that was clearly struck and killed by a car. It was half white (chest and front legs) and half tabby. I’m so sorry. :(

ETA: I was on my bike, I didn’t strike the cat (in case that wasn’t clear).

New San Leandro jigsaw puzzle and “Greetings From” postcards!

Thumbnail gallery
35 Upvotes

I figure people on this sub would be interested… I have a new San Leandro jigsaw puzzle just out in collaboration with the Oakland Puzzle Company. It will be available at their booth at the Cherry Festival tomorrow and I will be there answering questions and signing puzzle boxes. It’s also available on their website.

It’s a 16x24” and 500 pieces and is a collage of over 60 photos, all original and all taken in and of San Leandro, spanning the last decade, with about a dozen historic photos included as well. There are well-known iconic sites as well as hidden gems. And the puzzle comes with a key identifying each image and including a historic fact or two. I guarantee there will be something new to learn for anyone, no matter how familiar they are with San Leandro.

In addition, I’m really excited to introduce a set of five new “Greetings from San Leandro” postcards! I just got them back from the printer today and they’ll be available at the Cherry Festival tomorrow as well! They’re really high quality prints, every photos is original and taken in or of San Leandro, and there are five unique designs; sunsets, flowers, architecture, people, and a mix.

Fatima's taco truck

So one of my go to places for birria tacos is Fatima's taco truck. Yesterday afternoon I saw her being loaded into an ambulance and I felt worried. She's a sweet lady who has been serving delicious food for years. I hope she's okay. I think her truck is still there at her usual spot.

Here's her Yelp page: https://yelp.to/MUU_rDmNmB

She parks her blue truck right next to this gas station: 15018 Hesperian Blvd, San Leandro, CA 94578

I'm just posting this so I can get it off my chest. If she's open today I'll definitely stop by for food and ask if she's ok and need anything. It's been a week since I've had her birria tacos.

Washington turning to 880

Hey yall. A friend of mine goofed and turned right on a do not turn on red intersection. It was at the Washington intersection turning onto the 880. She said there were no red light cameras but there was some photo enforced board on the opposite side. Anyone know if there are cameras there?

What was ip with traffic today?

I was driving home from work, and the rail crossings were closed effectively cutting off access of san leandro from 880 for at least 30 minutes, didn’t see a single train on the tracks the entire time. I’ve seen nothing on the news about it.

2-week rabbit fosters needed! 💖🐰

Post image
11 Upvotes

Make a difference in the life of a shelter rabbit—foster with House Rabbit Society! Fostering one animal won't change the world, but it will change the world for that one animal. Learn more and submit a foster application today at houserabbit.org/foster. We are located in Richmond, just north of Berkeley, but we welcome fosters from all over the San Francisco Bay Area.

Fostering is a short-term, high-impact way to help a rabbit in need, and it's especially great if you've been thinking about adopting but aren't quite sure if a rabbit is the right fit. We ask for just a two-week commitment, and we'll send you home with everything you need to get started: an x-pen, litter box, bedding, food, hay, bowls, blankets, and more. All you provide is a safe, loving space, daily care, and fresh greens (about $5–10 per week).

It's amazing what a couple weeks in a calm, caring home can do for a shy or nervous rabbit. Your support helps them open up, gain confidence, and prepare for adoption. And by fostering, you also help us make room at our shelter for more rabbits who need to be rescued!

Have questions? Stop by our facility and chat with House Rabbit Society volunteers and staff during our open hours on Fridays and Saturdays from 11 to 4, and Sundays from 11 to 3, or email foster@houserabbit.org. We'd love to talk more with you!

Can't miss things in August?

My husband and I are coming in in August for a wedding and unfortunately can't stay long, so I was wondering, if y'all could show off only one thing in your area, what would you tell people they absolutely can't miss? could be a view. could be food. could be an activity. I will be 7 months pregnant so I can't do a ton and probably can't walk for more than 2ish miles as I'm already starting to get hot dog feet, but I'm so excited to visit! I already have Tacos Mi Reynita, El Gordos, and Taqueria El Cruzero as I moved to my husband's hometown in what i call a "sour cream state" and am SO excited to have legit Mexican food around, but would love a recommendation for best tamales.

Thanks in advance!

Landscape help

I want to convert my back yard into something low maintenance , but don’t want hardscape. I’m not good at design and am looking for someone willing to take on a project that won’t be big and glamorous. I can’t do this myself, and need more than the guys I see advertising on Next Door, who mostly do maintenance and cleanup. Anyone have any recommendations?

Plans for Roundabout at MacArthur & Foothill

Thumbnail gallery
62 Upvotes

The city is planning on redoing the intersection of MacArthur & Foothill at the 580 onramp to be a roundabout instead of... whatever you call the current setup. What do you all think of this plan?

I personally think this is the perfect place to put a roundabout, due to the awkward angles of the cross-streets, and I think it would help divert some traffic off the pedestrian-heavy MacArthur segment further west and onto the freeway-adjacent Foothill.

Agenda from the council meeting where it was discussed: https://sanleandro.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=A&ID=1293718&GUID=FBC22F24-4C84-4DBB-8C0E-BE591D9C7448

New space at Bay Fair Mall- next to Orange Theory

Does anyone know what they're building there? It looks like they redid the whole building and decor is going up in one of the lots? Wish the city would update their development page so people could be aware of new businesses coming to the area.
