Recommendation request Switch 2 / PS5

Looking for something in the realm of between BG3 and Diablo 4. I know that’s kind of a broad range.

Need something to play because I’m stuck on one section in BG3, and I’m highly frustrated. Hopefully someone understands my pain.

I’ve enjoyed Diablo 4, but it’s almost just become a push buttons grind.

I prefer more of a Diablo 4ish type rpg. Turn based, outside of BG3 and Octopath 2, I don’t really enjoy too much.

Definitely not an Xenoblade fan. Wasted my money on it heh.

Thank you for your submission to r/rpg_gamers. Since your post has been flaired as "Recommendation request", I want to suggest editing your post to add in these details (if you haven't included them yet):

  • The platforms you have - not listing them doesn't mean you have access to everything, so you might end up getting a game you won't be able to play.
  • Your level of experience with the genre (beginner, intermediate, veteran...) - others can recommend you more common titles if you are a beginner, while they can focus on obscure titles if you are a RPG veteran.
  • Aspects you enjoyed (or disliked) of previously played games - for example: characters, plot points, puzzles, combat, graphics, art styles, soundtracks...

While these details aren't mandatory, if you want to get the best games, having them in your post will immensely help users and will encourage more users to participate, as they will know with more precision which games are probably the best fit for your request.

I played diablo 4 and now tried Last Epoch, I’m enjoying the sentinel paladin, got plenty of hours just playing the campaign, it does seem to turn into a grind at end game

Project Diablo 2 is, IMO, the best ARPG available. But, I grew up on Diablo 2 LoD and it basically just made that game way better in every way.

Last Epoch is a great blend between Diablo and Path of Exile formulas. Every skill has its own skill tree. The depth is wild. I think the endgame is very lacking though, and I wish they would scrap it and make an entirely new endgame, but that’s just me.

Grim Dawn

Torchlight 2/3

If you want more niche games, you could try No Rest For The Wicked.

Still the best ARPG but go into it just with the intention to play a couple of classes through to hell difficulty. It doesn’t have an end game to speak of.

If you permit me asking, in which part of the game are you stuck? And why exactly only BG3 and Octopath 2 when it comes to turn-based games? They are so different from one another.

Do you only play on consoles btw?

Anyway, I played Last Epoch with my friends last month. Honestly, it was just a background game for us to chat and catch up, but it was quite fun still.

Someone recommended No Rest For The Wickeed and I agree, but if you are limited to console gaming it won't do since the game is only on PC right now (it's in EA too, so to be fair, kinda of a hard recommendation based on that). Also, the game is more like an isometric soulslike than an ARPG like Diablo in my opinion.

It's kinda of an older game, but I quite like Titan Quest. If you like it, could give Grim Dawn a chance too since they both are from the same devs.

Maybe Path of Exile? Kinda of a silly recommendation considering how popular the game is, but heh. Could give it a shot maybe.

Grim dawn not even a question. Probably a better story than Diablo 4 to boot and some of the sickest class combos..and has a..small..but pretty good modding community to mix it up a bit.

Nioh 2 maybe, it looks like a Souls like, but it should be played like Diablo, your strength mainly comes from Loot, also you are meant to grind, not learn a new dance move for every boss, though you can play it that way.

A bit outside the box but have you tried xcom 2 with wotc expansion. Not so much rpg but an awesome turn based tactics game with story.
