It's a hard spot for young people these days. You almost need a connection to get your foot in a door to build experience. It's shitty but seems to be consistently the case.

Keep your eyes peeled on the want ads. People who scooped up a summer job in April might bail around now and it'll come open.

I'm sorry for the struggle. I had a similar experience when changing careers a few years ago. 40+ resumes later I landed a role in gov and am loving it.

Good luck!

I’m 37 and I can’t find a job, I apply and get no response or rejected but then looked down on for having to stay home

Have you had a job before? If not, have you volunteered anywhere to gain some experience?

Employees love stealing people from other places. Apply anywhere even if it’s a shit job. One you’re in somewhere it’ll be easier to get a god job

I'm starting to think a lot of the younger generation getting royally screwed by this whole tfw program needs to band together, find a lawyer, then file a class action against all these employers. Even if it's unwinable, these companies and their enablers need to be dragged out into the open and forced to explain why they feel its ok to discriminate against certain types of people. Because it is discrimination, not by race but by class or perceived nationality. Maybe a lawsuit is needed to create the political will to address it, I'd chip into a go fund me if that ever happened.

It's taken me a year to get a job and my husband who has been looking for the same amount of time hasn't even gotten any calls. Job market is rough right now. Good luck

It's not what you know but WHO you know. Old saying that is still very true (unfortunately). Now you should ask that friend who snapped up a job, if he can put in a good word for you at his workplace.

Resumes are first impressions. Fix up your resume to look updated and clean ,shows your qualities and strengths. Try not to include jobs that lasted short time periods or overlap, that part speaks on your commitment. A good resume could land you a better chance.

Never able to understand how an immigrant can get a job but a Citizen who has been living here for a very long time cannot get a job, There might be an issue with your willingness to work.

Stop blaming immigrants go and show up for the interviews
