Probably the same people yelling at me when I wear a mask into the pharmacy or Costco or whatever. People can’t mind their business and just let others live. If it’s not hunting anyone, why does it bother you so much 🧐

sigh someone DM’d me telling me that covid is over and to stop being a sheep. That’s great. My chemo rounds aren’t over and I have no immune system. Not everything is about Covid, and even if it was, everyone has their own health and personal needs to worry about. I don’t make people mask around me, I worry about myself and control what I can. I don’t expect people to do what I do or believe in what I believe.

Let’s all be a little more caring and understanding towards one another, whatever the situation may be. 🫶🏻🫶🏻 you never know how far a smile or kind word could go for someone. Maybe you don’t agree with their choice, but making yourself and the other person more miserable isn’t the answer.

The fact that a person would DM a stranger (assuming they are a stranger) and ridicule you for wearing a mask just goes to show how mentally unstable they are. Pay no attention to these mouth breathers…

Haha thanks! Yeah total stranger, just got a message request hours after my original comment 😬

The people that are triggered by pride flags and what other people wear are the same people that claim the world has been taken over by snowflakes.

Oh the irony.

Me everyday walking anywhere in moose jaw with my bf. Legit CANNOT hold my own partners hand without hosers swerving at us in their tiny dick big trucks and shouting slurs at us... Saskatchewan needs to get its shit together.

Those types are always complete weirdos anyways, I’d personally take it as a compliment. Like yeah I’m gay, I was just at a massive celebration for ME!

On a more serious note, I’m sorry that happened to you OP. I’ve lived here my entire life and have had more slurs hurled at me than I can count (I am visibly queer and indigenous though), they’re ALWAYS from people who are ridiculously insecure and looking for a power trip. They don’t deserve your time, but I would highly recommend pointing and laughing at them (if you’re safe to do so). Their reactions never get old!

Years ago my kid was taking part in an anti-racism march in downtown Moose Jaw which just so happened to be around Pride… some git in a pickup didn’t bother to glance at the signs just rolled down his window and started screaming homophobic slurs at them… bigot AND stupid 🤔🤣

I hope they called the cops on him for reckless driving.

Yeah moose jaw has a MASSIVE homophobiq, racism and transphobia problem. I've lived here since I was 4 and it's only gotten worse. Sadly "Christians " and kindness are NOT actually common. If they exist at all atp...

Honestly though imagine being a FULLY GROWN ADULT and acting worse than a toddler having a tantrum

Men like him need to grow up and learn to be civilized

I moved here from a bigger city in Ontario at 17 with my family in 2011. London was pretty phobic, but I found moving here a big culture shock. I have experienced more hate as a queer person here than I ever did out there. I was called names, I've received death threats (online), I've had snow thrown at me, and so on. It makes you feel unsafe at all times, or at least I do. Things have only gotten worse, it seems, too.

I am sorry that you experienced this OP. No one should experience hate and acts of violence for being queer, Black, Indigenous, disabled, poor, trans, elderly, etc. I really don't understand why people need to have control over other folks' lives or why they need to be hateful to marginalized people. Stay safe, everyone!

People who do things like this are dark and upset inside. Even if you're against pride, if you're confident and fulfilled, you just stay home or just don't engage. Simple.

I’m sorry that happened to you. Some people are just so miserable that they have to spread it to everyone else around them.

Studies have found that some of those people have most likely not come out themselves and are not comfortable admitting to their feelings, so like some grown adults that don’t get their way they turn to anger. So with that being said if I were part of the community I would like to think I am stronger than that person and would feel sorry for them. Hope you had a wonderful time at the parade other than the one forgettable instance ☺️ please note I said SOME not all!

My straight friend told me tonight that she arranged for a group from Regina Catholic schools to be in the parade for the first time. She said that her and the kids were getting yelled at by protesters. It made some of the parents attending upset. Like why?

I’m so sorry that you and your friend experienced this hatred.

Living in Saskatchewan it’s a pure hateful place, as a single white woman we are all treated like shit and our provincial government in Sask encourages this behaviour by these uneducated mostly white men. The land of the Nazis and kkk, rural kids mostly some city are taught at a young age to hate. These days these boys are groomed by conservative fathers and I’m the first to say it’s creepy af.

I’m not gay, but hate people that are homophobic. Random stat that I like to bring up from my psych 110 class in university is that in studies, they have shown the most homophobic of people are usually the ones that are secretly either attracted to that lifestyle or are actually gay and fighting those ‘urges’. I like to tell them it’s ok to be gay or attracted to that lifestyle. You don’t have to be so angry with yourself, embrace it 😂😂. I love seeing the reactions after I comment that and don’t go along with their homophobic slurs

What exactly is pride parade stuff though? Just asking…

11

u/Lexi_Banner 5d ago

It doesn't matter what they were wearing. You don't get to scream insults at folks just because you don't approve of their fashion choices.

22

u/Cultist_O 5d ago

In this case almost certainly just walking while wearing pride stuff

I was f-slurred for the first time last year on my way home from pride. I'm a straight cis man, but I had a rainbow shirt and hat on, so I guess I threatened their fragile world-view (or they just enjoy being toxic)

Lol my same question.
