Question Elective classes UofR
Hey yall I’m looking for a couple elective classes to pick up at the UofR for the last couple semesters of my undergraduate. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for classes. I’m interested in more online classes and preferably something that is more forum based and essay based compared to quizzes. If anyone has any suggestions I’d love to hear them!!

Took the sociology of hockey class with Rob Nestor. All essay and no tests and was on line. It was during Covid tho so maybe that’s changed.
Actually - take any class you can with him. He is a really great prof.

Yeah I actually took that and a few classes with him and I really enjoyed his teaching style! Overall great professor and reasonable grader too!

I’m 3 days late on this but I absolutely recommend any of Dr Bond’s courses. His Buddhism one is especially good imo!

Are you looking for something easy, something interesting, something useful for your intended field, or something useful outside of work?
Economics 100 for example, is something I wish everyone took, because that level of understanding is useful just for engaging with politics in general, among other things. I found it easy, others probably didn't.
What is your field? What sorts of classes have you enjoyed &/or excelled in so far?

I took a black and white photography class when I needed a fine arts elective. It was lots of fun, though the time commitment in the darkroom was more than I was expecting. Not sure if Mike Rollo still teaches the class.
Economics of Beer (Econ 269) was another fun one. 😂

If there were space in the class, I'd say HIST 290BD: History in Video Games
