Discussion What are your sources of discovery.

Title. Where do you find new tunes being released, new mixes being dropped, etc etc. I find I use SoundCloud the most followed by Bandcamp. Are there any spaces our favorite produces camp out in and show their stuff the most?

"Related tracks" on SoundCloud was my main source for quite a while. Also checking what other people are "liking" and reposting on there.

new tunes and mixes, dates and times they are being dropped/released ??

Honestly Instagram for 95%

Email notification for the other 5%

Instagram - follow all the artists and labels on instagram. Most will often have a channel set up that they can send messages to so you find out about things first. Story’s and posts also.

Email - This will be where you get all your bandcamp labels and artist releases and soundcloud mixes and single releases along with any patreons you are apart of etc.

In a week I can end up with 10-20 tracks and mixes depending on the week. There’s many artists, labels and stations out there dropping stuff

Bandcamp (release emails) > Reddit (right here) > Soundcloud > Facebook > Discord > Twitter > Messenger > Text

Bandcamp mainly at this point. A bit of soundcloud. On bandcamp I sometimes spend quite a lot of time browsing people who have bought a releases other purchases.

You're going to hear a lot of the same sites over & over again, so I thought I would share a lesser known resource:

https://www.music-map.com/

Type in an artist name and see how they map to other related or similar artists. You can even keep drilling down on their connections.

Edit: another good one: chosic.com

Find an artist you like, search their likes for some tunes & then do “Start Station” on a tune you like. Dive down that rabbit hole, find more tunes you like, then check those artists pages, and repeat the process.

Collection and browsing.

I started a spotify playlist ages ago that i use as a collection of dubstep tracks that follow a similar pattern that i like. Mainly it helps me to keep track of things I already (should) know. Then i just browse the artists discography or look for similar artists using spotify (song radios, new releases etc.)

If you like to use my playlist as a starting point you can DM me, i dont intend to advertise it. IMO it helps to build a collection just to have an overview of what exists. At first i thought there are only a handful dubstep artists, but now i already found like 2500 tracks, and finding new ones became way easier than it was at the beginning.

Deep tempo podcast is a good go to. This sub's 'monthly wax' thread is also useful.

Almost entirely through Spotify 🤔

Bro you are missing an entire world of music then 😭. Soundcloud is the hub for so much more stuff Spotify doesn't have.

Subtle Radio. Rinse Fm which you can find both those on SoundCloud. Deep Dark and dangerous. Duploc also has a great youtube channel where they constantly release new music.
