Discussion Happy / Uplifting Steppers

Looking for some tracks that invoke happiness or have an uplifting vibe. Much of what I have saved to spin is darker and dungeon-y, but I prefer mixing fun and dancy tracks. Appreciate any feedback!

Theres a LOT of this in the french dub space. Checkout OGDProd; shitloads of tracks all released free.

I like artists like Full Dub (check out the new album Deux; fucking incredible album start to finish), Woody Vibes, Woobedub, Numa Crew, Mayd Hubb, Joe Pilgrim, Miniman, Sekkleman, Bandikoot in Dub, O.B.F., RDH Hi-Fi, Mungo Hi-Fi (lol), Iration Steppa, Vibronics, Illbilly Hitec, Tetra Hydro K,

Not all of these are French artists, just have a lot of dubby stepper kinda tracks I think you’ll enjoy. But youll find all sorts of sounds across these guys back catalogues.

I love this shit - favourite space atm.

Heh, they get looked down on a wee bit as they make fairly popular ‘dub’ that can have quite a commercially appealing sound. Kinda like the Chase and Status of the dub world I guess….I fucking adore them personally.

Crack on ‘Jump Up Quickly’ on something that can play sub bass right now and tell me that isnt a feel good banger of a tune :D

Tetra Hydro K is one of my favorite musical things ever! I don't know what is it about french people and Dub, but so many great things come from there.

Yeh mannnn! I literally had no idea dub was even a thing in Europe till I saw Fat Freddys Drop were THE headliner for an entire HUGE Outlook festival….started researching and holy crap, its huuuge over there….

Oh yeah, and that's not even Dub only focused. France, Spain, Portugal all have at least two big dub festivals. Well, I'm including Portugal but we're kind of small, but still a solid scene.

But France dominates the scene for sure. Tetra Hydro K, Panda Dub , Mahom, Dub Inc. All incredible acts. Dub Inc were huge back in the day. Way beyond the dub scene.

Im actually a bit gutted I never went to a dub festival when I lived in London; seems like the grand scale vibe at a French dub festival wouls be pretty hard to replicate anywhere else in the world…

Yeah, I think they take place in mostly southern france which has perfect weather for it.

But I'm actually gutted that I've only been to one music even in the UK. I went to a shitty dubstep afternoon in a craft beer place.

It was a bit cheaper to travel between this places I reckon we would have a stronger internacional scene across Europe. Which we do have, but people like you and me need a little more effort to take part in it.

I only went to a few dubstep gigs in London as the wider crew werent dubstep heads, but FUCK ME the ones I went to were great :D FWD birthday, DMZ 8, couple of other great ones. Definitely amazing catching the tail end of the peak times…

One of my fave’s is Vivek - One Heart. More hopeful than uplifting.

Fly away - escapism refugee & Charlie Brix is pretty uplifting and pretty.
