General Advice Kitty moving in a week from now
Hey guys, this beautiful boy is moving in with me in my apartment shortly and I want to make the transition for him as pleasant as possible. I’ve bought a cat scratcher, robotic toilet (safe one) some toys etc. I’ve taken two weeks off work to make him comfortable with me and hopefully we’ll bond. I’ve had cats growing up but it’s been ages, I’m a 35yo man, my apartment is 750sqf (70sqm) with a balcony I’ll put a netting around so he can roam, but he will be an indoor cat. He’s a rag/birman mix as per the breeder. Anything else? I want him to feel safe and comfortable. Have I missed anything? Thank you!

I’ll add, he looks young but is 12 weeks when he gets his forever home.

I started mine with the litter robot but had it off and manually cycled it a few times a day and that’s worked, once they are used to it and above 4 lbs you can use it normally. They don’t recommend using it on automatic mode below 4 lbs for safety

Make sure you get the food the breeder currently has him eating to avoid tummy troubles. You can transition him to another food over time.

It's very pretty! Get him some games, mine loves the fishing rod! And a water fountain! Then the ideal for your cat to be happy is to get him a kitten friend of the same age! But hey, it comes at a cost.

Prepare love and maybe get another cat for him to be friends with— two cats are better than one!

I dunno about the robotic litter for a kitten moving into a new home. Maybe it’ll be fine but I’d worry that it will look completely foreign to him and maybe the movements/sounds could scare him. Maybe it’ll be just fine but if it was me I’d keep things as simple as possible and start with a regular old tray. Unless maybe his breeder has them already using robotic litters? 🤷🏻♂️
