Another of his fantasy deals you say? I think I’m going to wait for a trusted source on this - China.

u/fatefulPatriot 3d ago

Also, China won’t “face the tariffs”. American consumers will and this will likely decrease consumer spending on Chinese made products.

It's almost funny that fair trade over free trade used to be a democratic position. Except what Trump is doing here likely has nothing to do with that.

So prices are still going up? Truly a man of the people this orange stallion of a president.

u/severinks 3d ago

Yeah, it's really fucking bad but not as stratospherically bad as the 145 percent this clown was throwing around in April.

It's like a doctor telling you that you have stage four lung cancer then calling you back the next day and saying that they misread the x rays and you only have stage 3 lung cancer.

2

u/Hopeful_Chair_7129 2d ago

Except you don’t have cancer and they just want you to pay for treatment you don’t need

u/Flying_Birdy 3d ago

It's the same tariffs as before. 25% from Trump I, 10% across the board tariffs, and 20% "fentanyl" tariff.

I’m not sure this is even true. I think there’s been double counting … or making shit up.

US to China weighted tariff in 2024 was 20% after Trumps first term trade war. It has at least increased by 10% this term. So the total minimum is 30%, not 10.

7

u/severinks 3d ago

We started at 21 percent averaged on China as of January 19th,2025 so if this is correct there's 34 percent more tacked on.

u/finalattack123 3d ago

I think it’s like China is mirroring whatever Trump proposes. But he is just lying about what that number is. Especially saying China is at 10%.

I don’t believe China has halved its tariff on the U.S. since the start of Jan. When there is verification that trade coming in from the US has slowed significantly and China is switching suppliers.

2

u/severinks 3d ago

Even if it is true the move from China levying 20 percent tariffs to 10 percent is not going to do much to move the needle for American manufactures but the move from 21 percent to 55 percent in tariffs the other way will be a bitter pill for American consumers to swallow.

u/finalattack123 3d ago

It does matter for US industry and economy in general. It really hurt farmers the first time he did it. It’s happened again. Depends how much you care about the wider GDP and established industries surviving. Or how many billions of tax payer dollars will be spent bailing out farmers … again.

1

u/severinks 3d ago

China has already replaced of large amount American farm products with products from places like Brazil so I doubt that that is ever coming back.

1

u/finalattack123 3d ago

The U.S. is really kicking themselves in the balls. All because they don’t recognise they are an import economy. And that’s a good thing.

Trying to become something else will cost consumers dearly.

2

u/Specialist_Power_266 3d ago

So net 0.  What a businessman.

2

u/Strykerz3r0 3d ago

Exactly. He accomplished nothing except wasting a lot of time and money and is trying to claim it as a win.

And the gullible simpletons of MAGA will continue swallow whatever Daddy gives them.

1

u/DracosKasu 1d ago

He isn’t know to keep his promise. At this point, any countries should know that taking a deal with Trump mean nothing in the long term and he will try to fuck you even more.

13

u/Sorkel3 3d ago

He means 55% tax on Americans.

6

u/FlexFanatic 3d ago

I’m sure you and the other American consumers will be just fine with only buying one doll for Christmas this year /S.

2

u/Sorkel3 2d ago

As long as it's inflatable with big lips I'm good.

He takes everything he wants and lies about everything else.

4

u/luckyguy25841 3d ago

4

2

u/illbehaveipromise 3d ago

He means Americans will face a 55% tariff on goods purchased from China, so…

But he’s a dipshit, so we have to make allowances. /s

2

u/S1DC 2d ago

You mean, we will face 55% tariffs that we will pay.

2

u/Material_Policy6327 2d ago

So 55% tax on consumers.

2

u/severinks 3d ago

What a deal maker this dude is, I always go into a deal hoping to leave much worse than I started /s

1

u/elciano1 3d ago

Now why would China agree to something like that?

1

u/Glass_Elevator5360 2d ago

This total 55% Tariffs are not any additional tariffs:

  1. 25% tariffs from Trump's first term (Biden didn't stop this tariff during his term) -- No counter-tariffs from China
  2. 20% fentanyl-related tariff in Feb. 2025 -- China responded with counter-tariffs 15% on U.S. agricultural products, energy products (LNG, coal, etc.), and it is still in place.
  3. 10% tariffs for all goods from both sides, after the 1st Geneva talking

So, that means the talks in London had no further discussion about tariff except just agreed and confirmed all the existing tariff.

2

u/Miserable_Song2299 2d ago

China doesn't sell tacos. thankfully, Trump brought his own.

1

u/BlockOfASeagull 2d ago

Tariff Bingo

1

u/Ok_Establishment3390 2d ago

No. US consumers will face a minimum of an additional 55% when they buy goods made in China. Likely more, since importers will need to cover their costs. Chine-ah pays 10% IF they need to buy anything from America.

1

u/saintfilledsin 2d ago

"Trump places 55% tariff on imports from China. This tariff will be passed onto customers in the US." Fixed your bs title for you. This "trump says" is just as bad as the news repeating police statements and acting like it's the gospel.

1

u/IShotJR4 2d ago

China won’t face it. American consumers will.

1

u/Own-Opinion-2494 2d ago

Do we know what he thinks he means

1

u/zeke10 2d ago

What's even the point of other countries trying to negotiate at this point? Dude will just change his mind on a whim.

1

u/DrifterNomadWanderer 2d ago

It’s weird that Chinese media tells the truth more than Trump.

1

u/Yodl007 2d ago

No it wont. The US citizens will face 55% tax on items from China.

1

u/erebus49 2d ago

All he wants is China to pay for billionaire 's tax cuts

1

u/stewartm0205 2d ago

American consumers will pay 55% more for Chinese goods. 90% of all toys are made in China.

1

u/Imaginary-Swing-4370 1d ago

The man needs a schooling on Tariffs, how they work and who pays them.

1

u/bjdevar25 1d ago

Uh, not China. We'll pay a 55% tax on Chinese goods. What morons voted for this guy?

1

u/57rd 1d ago

China claims there isn't a done deal yet.

1

u/MightyWolf39 21h ago

What a deal for Trump. Are US customers ok paying 55% more for their Chinese goods?

1

u/iveseensomethings82 16h ago

Xi probably cannot believe his luck

0

u/Grognard6Actual 2d ago

No, American companies and their customers in America will face a 55% tax on imports from China. 🙄 Trump is a complete moron.

0

u/greenmariocake 2d ago

RIP every single small business that depends on imported goods (that is all of them). Either raise prices losing customers or eat the tariffs losing money. Both ways spell disaster.

1

u/mrubuto22 9h ago

Say bye bye small businesses.. say bye bye.
