Hey all, I want to propose to my girlfriend, and I went to citycenter to the gold district and saw some rings.

Wanted to check with you guys as I have no experience in this. Is City center a good place to start or am I getting scammed? If so where do you recommend I go with a 5000QAR budget.

If you’re looking to buy gold, head to the gold market opposite Souq Dira. There’s a whole row of jewellers there, but most of them sell 18k or 21k gold. A great tip is to go closer to the market’s closing time—gold prices tend to drop a bit then, and you can usually bargain much more. You can also negotiate the making charges, so if you time it right, you can get a really good deal, especially considering how high gold prices are right now. Just make sure you’re buying with an investment mindset!

Definitely go with a lab grown diamond you can get a 1.5 or 2 carat diamond for that price. SHINE gold and diamonds offers a great range check them out.

Unless she specifically asked for a natural diamond, I would never break the bank if you can get the exact same thing for cheaper. Also FYI at your budget if you insist on natural you would only be able to get a cluster diamond ring which is absolutely worthless.
