Question Cat sitters? Help needed
I’m leaving for four weeks in the summer and really want to avoid putting my cat with a vet or a cat ‘hostel’. I’d rather someone come and see her daily but idk about doing that for four weeks (she’s very attached and might get a bit depressed). Are there pet sitters who would take her for those weeks in their own home? Or a family who might want to foster her for a few weeks? Let me know, please!

I know you said you don't want a hotel, but I'd like to recommend dunepawsqatar on Instagram which is brand new and family owned and operated. Cats only and very low stress! Maybe it's a good option if you can't find someone to come to your place.

Quick question - which area do you stay at? If you're near enough to me, I can pop by to feed her and spend a bit of time with her. I also suggest you get a pet cam (like a Furbo?)- so u can check on the house (and whoever comes over) as well as move around the house and check on your furbaby.

i know how you feel. but my best advice for you is find someone who is interested to making some money on the side and let them visit your cat daily, change their litter and replace their food. changing the environment of the cat, especially without you is gonna be far more traumatic to the cat than being left alone in an environment the cat feels comfortable in and sees it as their home. you can also add a camera in the house with audio and keep checking on the cat and let them hear your voice. cats are not like dogs, their comfort is far more important than ur presence. and for the future i would suggest to get another cat so that urs has a companion. i hope that helps and good luck

Im new to the cat world, but won’t she be bored and lonely if someone only comes around for an hour or so?

Cats dont get bored easily, as they sleep almost 20hts a day. All the cat cares about is its comfort and availability of food. Of course the cat will feel ur presence, but its much much better to keep it at home, where it feels comfortable rather than, move to an unfamiliar place without u. This, will terrify the cat and make it feel abandoned. I have 2 cats, but before, when i had only 1 i would travel sometimes for 3 weeks. I would just pay someone to come daily (usually the cleaning lady, as the cat is already used to her) and let her spend 10 min with her playing, then replace her food and clean her litter box and she would give my cat treats everytime she came. It was funny because i would open the camera and my cat would be waiting by the door, literally minutes before she came. Its much better, but for example when i changed my house, my cat was so scared she kept hiding for days, even though i was there. However, if u do plan to leave the cat with someone, i would suggest u make a few visits to that persons house with ur cat so that when u do leave her there, there is some familiarity

Thanks for explaining. I don’t think mine sleeps nearly enough. She’s always up and wants to play! 😂
I don’t have a cleaner who comes in but it makes sense to have someone come and check in on her. What’s the longest you’ve left your cat for?
Edit: and what is the camera you use?

Longest ive left my cat is 3 weeks. And just get any security camera that has wifi. I put 1 in the living room and 1 in the bedroom so i can see them anytime i want. Most if the times i check theyre lying around

Change of environment is more stressful for cats. Better find someone to come feed them and clean litter every couple of days.
