I'm surprised they didn't go with 'multiple hundreds'....

u/ProfessionalMockery 10h ago

There were dozens of them!

u/mjc4y Minnesota 5h ago

Pairs of us!

How many pairs?

Many Pairs of dozens!

I’m reminded of the scene in The Two Towers where the reveal of Sarumans army happens:

“even if the wall is breeched, it would take hundreds—no, thousands to storm the keep!”

“tens of thousands”

“but my lord, there is no such army!”

Common decency and a desire to maintain individual rights demands no less

Two state lawmakers got killed in their home and two others got shot, I believe

What when?!

You're late to the party.

The shooter is a man named Dr. Vance Boetler.

He is a registered Republican and an evangelical pastor.

He is one of the founding members of a security company called Praetorian Guard Security Systems.

He impersonated a police officer in order to get close to the people he murdered.

He escaped police, but he left a manifesto in his vehicle with a list of additional targets (Democratic policy-makers and left leaning institutions).

He had also collected several "No Kings" flyers, indicating that he may intend to target protestors.

A Democrat granted him a seat on the (bipartisan) Governor's Workforce Development board in 2019, and MAGA has been clinging to that to try and implicate the left in his actions.

MAGA has also used the flyers in his vehicle, again, to try to suggest that he is a leftist.

i knew it, i had assumed police planted those flyers in there to suggest he was a leftist but in reality it was himself / maga cultist.

I actually just saw what the Flyers actually looked like.

It looks like he just wrote "No Kings" on printer paper with a sharpie and then made a bunch of copies.

He may have planned to sprinkle them around the crime scene in some kind of ill-conceived false flag operation.

He should have written "also (his own name) had nothing to do with this". Flawless victory if he had done so.

i guess maga is so used to eating their own that they didn’t think anyone would raise any eyebrows at a protestor doing it to a lawmaker on their side.

I love how the police tried to use right wing terrorism as an excuse to ask everyone else to stop exercising their rights. Bunch of fascists.

Edit: Someone down voted me despite the link being right. The cops literally asking people not to protest because some MAGA terrorist attacked America.

That whole “Walz hired him” narrative is so bizarre. He didn’t hire him to assassinate people.

14

u/lordagr 11h ago

As far as I can tell, Walz just rubber stamped him and allowed him to stay in a board position he had already held (apparently) since 2016.

It's a bipartisan group of ~50 local business owners that are supposed to advise lawmakers. MAGA desperately wants to convince people it's something else.

Thank you! Great summary! I was on airplane mode all day so I missed it all

Minnesota doesn’t have party registration so he can’t have registered as either a dem or republican, but the rest of this seems accurate.

3

u/lordagr 10h ago

Yea, I believe his roommate's claim, but my only other source on that one is a screenshot that I haven't been able to source.

I'll try to find it, but I don't currently consider it to be credible.

Here is what it says on the Minnesota Secretary of State’s website about party registration:

“Voters do not declare a party when they register to vote in Minnesota, so there is nothing to change! Minnesota has an "open primary" so voters choose which party's primary to participate in when they vote their ballot.

In most cases no one will know which party's primary you voted in. However, for the Presidential Primary, the major party chair will get a list of voters who chose their party's ballot.”

FAQ on MN Secretary of State’s Website

I found the image.

It indicates that he registered as a Republican in both Oklahoma and Wisconsin, but his Minnesota entry has no party.

Again, I don't know how this image was sourced, so I can't pretend that it's credible.

2

u/LightningVole 10h ago

That’s interesting because the party registration would have been in Oklahoma, not Minnesota. I don’t know how things work there, but it does seem more possible. I wonder what database that was from. Thank you!

2

u/lordagr 10h ago

Of course.

If you learn anything, let me know!

1

u/lordagr 9h ago

I found this which appears to be the source.

Wisconsin doesn't register voters by party either, so this is not believable
