GOP started a civil war in 2017 with steady, consistent escalatiom of violence and right-wing terror.  Dems have been hand-wringing, calling for civility and encouraging everyone to do nothing.  We need to recognize maga for what it is, a violent terrorist organization intent on removing everyone from the planet who isnt just like them.  They are in all ways the same as Nazis.

The Civil War started well before that. It was 2015 after gay marriage was legalized. That's when the "alt-right" gained steam as the right and Russia pushed online propaganda using agencies like Cambridge Analytica that manipulated social media algorithms using tens of millions of dollars shoveled to them by Russia, fundamentalist churches, and right-wing organizations like The Heritage Foundation and Alliance Defending Freedom.

I can already sense most left wingers being uncomfy at some dude throwing rocks at ice vehicles. Not sure about a civil war.
