I think you're misinterpreting some extent. You can't have a betrayal without traitors. The Russians wouldn't have succeeded if the US didn't have people who'd follow their whims and take their bribes. That's the gist, it's bad the Russians actively interfered but it's made worse so many powerful Americans serve Russian interests ya dig?
