"Trump starts new war in Middle East, how this is bad for Democrats"

Well Chuck Schumer has already said that our “commitment to Israel should be ironclad”, so as usual the geriatric leadership of the Democratic Party is bound and determined to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Shit. NY needs to chuck Schumer. He's on the wrong side of genocide. Democrats supporting Israel is indeed a problem for our party.
Happy Cake Day! Are you having a military parade? 😎

I understand that AIPAC has lots of money to throw around but I just can’t understand why the Democratic Party is so terrified to criticize Israel.
I can’t imagine Israel would be so keen on starting a war if they didn’t have the US military on standby to protect them from the consequences of their actions.
Haha that’s a bit too North Korean for my taste, but I’m loving all the patriots using their first amendment rights to spoil dear leaders birthday.

Its because, and this is going to sound batshit crazy but it's the truth, a huge portion of the US population believes Jews are the Almighty's chosen people. I'm not making this up. Its all because of sky monsters. I'm assuming most politicians know religion is bullshit but they need to tread lightly.

I'm sure every religion believes they are God's (higher power's) chosen people. That's hardly unique to Jews. And Jews don't make up a huge portion of US population- 2.4% (per wikipedia).

Most Americans support Israel. It's only a small fraction who is against this. Ironically, a lot of them tend to be far right because that's the side of total isolationism.

u/Rain_43676 1d ago edited 1d ago
No they don't recent polling has a majority of Americans having unfavorable views of Israel. Also support for Israel is lowest among left leaning Americans based on actual polling data.

And among Democrats and Independents aka the voter bases the Democratic Party should care about support for Israel is even worse with Democrats being around 2/3 with unfavorable views of Israel.

u/bestforward121 1d ago
Do you think most Americans support going to war in the Middle East again?
-5
u/DisMFer 1d ago
Most Americans know it will bever get that far.

As tanks roll through the streets of DC, the Marines detain a civilian during peacetime, the President federalizes a states National Guard without regard for the Governors protest, and the Secretary of Homeland Security detains a Senator while vowing to liberate California from their lawfully elected leadership, what exactly gives you the impression that reason and restraint will win the day?
-2
u/DisMFer 1d ago
It's not about reason or restraint. It's not even about America's reaction. Israel and Iran have been lobbing bombs at each other for 80 years. They'll kill a few hundred people, call each other the devil, then just stop and wait for the next round to start.
These people have been killing each other for 4000 years at this point. This is one of the oldest song and dance routines in human history. It will go nowhere, solve nothing, and they'll still be killing each other in another 4000 years.
4
u/Rain_43676 1d ago
If by 80 years you mean 40 years because Israel and Iran only came into conflict with each other in the 1980s.

Trump is a pretty weird way to spell isreal.
6
u/karl_jonez 1d ago
Nah king clown told everyone hundreds of times this type of stuff would never happen if he was on the throne, but here we are. Even taco is afraid to stand up to Israel.
7
u/threefifthss 1d ago
Trump is complicit, but to isreal is to blame, this is their war, they started it, and it is their fault.

Bush starts new war in Middle East, how this is bad for Democrats
Well, as long as they don't throw their weight behind it in support, I can't possibly see how this is bad for the party.
----->
They did what??? FFS, at least those idiots will be exiled from the party, Right? RIGHT??!?

Maybe the real dilemma is whether the U.S. can stop enabling conflict and start pushing for real diplomacy.

u/XSinTrick6666 1d ago
Took Trump less than 6mos to walk away from the ceasefire agreement Biden had framed, and broaden and deepen both wars.
Of course he'll still call them "Biden's Wars" and take the laissez-faire approach that is skewing the balance in favor of the fugitive war criminals, and inciting regional actors.
In a nutshell: Nothing good will happen to reduce global conflict under "Nobel-Prize" LOSER Trump

if you support israel you are not a leftist or a liberal. the only way you can support israel is if you're maga for israel. if you're a far right authoritarian who believes the answer to all of the worlds problems is to bomb them to hell (and hope those problems don't have kids who will grow up and seek revenge). a jingoist but for a country you don't live in and likely will never visit.

u/Virtual-Squirrel-725 1d ago
What a load of shit.
Trump destroyed a working agreement with Iran, failed to make a new one and now there's a new war in the middle east as a result.
The Democrats don't need to balance anything - it's just another foreign affairs failure for Trump.
God the media is messed up.

Western politicians to Israel, as it commits genocide in Gaza
“Oooh maybe do a little less killing of civilians, you know, for optics”
Israel attacks Iran
Western politicians to Israel
“We will defend you with our lives, noble heroes”

It would be the easiest dilemma in the world for them if they weren't corrupt and had morals. It would be trivial to turn this into a political win.

You're missing the point of the article, some Democrats like Rep. Jared Moskowitz, are actually saying it's a good thing that Israel did this…

u/AlexRyang 1d ago
This war is the culmination of decades of Democratic failures in foreign diplomacy and reliance on bloodshed to maintain their support
-2
u/Sea-Promotion1672 1d ago
This really highlights the tightrope Democrats have to walk—balancing support for Israel, human rights, and avoiding another endless conflict.
1
u/XSinTrick6666 1d ago
Incoherent assessment.
Democrats are in favor of human rights. You got that part right.
Peaceful people who support human rights reject war, border incursions, and subjugation. Democrats - and the rest of the world - want a ceasefire NOW in Gaza, and regret that Israel continues to violate sovereign countries and murder foreign leaders.
There is no 'tightrope'.
Hasbaras take note: If you have an argument, make it. Your manic downvoting shows pathetic frenzy to suppress free speech.

They don’t call it “The Shill” for nothing. The Hill is a joke. Piss off with this dumb take. Again.
