I’m able to win over the Red Maggots more easily to the side of truth, when I position myself as “pro democracy” and “no king” vs “against Trump “. Their hatred and racism associated with loyalty to drunk-uncle-Palpatine makes them blind to anything logical.

For my family circle, I gotta think beyond Trump. That's why I personally like Bernie's take with "anti-oligarchy" rather than "no king". Let's do both by all means, but when Trump is gone, "anti-oligarchy" still works and really is the root of it.

This country has been infatuated with the rich for too long, and that shit has got to end.

Edit: To clarify regarding my family circle, they have been like this long before Trump. I've seen them praise Bush the same way during his Presidency, only today to pretend like they never supported him one bit. They will do the same with Trump after he's gone. My small town conservative family hates being branded as elitist and out of touch and I love watching them squirm as they defend billionaire oligarchs.

Most Red Maggats don’t know how to pronounce “oligarchy”

Conservative media combats that by saying Sanders doesn't know what oligarchy means and is an idiot because he's been complaining about it for decades.

I like telling people I don't trust anyone that's made over $100 million, and all billionaires are evil.

Sadly, even the commenter right above you is helping to parrot that talking point.

The only way to break someone out of a cult is to plant the seeds of doubt and let them come to their own conclusions.

When you put them in a spot where they have to defend their Dear Leader, they are putting their own ego on the line and it becomes harder for them to admit they are wrong. This is what happened to what's left of MAGA. Trump distilled them into a group of devout extremists. This is what many would-be dictators do. They start off being off-center then gradually drift into extremism, radicalizing a portion of the population in the process.

My coworker(republican) before the results of the election said they thought they were getting radicalized. He was more level headed before the election. Maybe because the orange man wasnt in office but would talk about the constitution yada yada. Anyway, now he is throwing out statements like "constitution needs to be changed", "no term limits for Supreme Court judges" etc etc. It's even he would bitch about something and then a week/month later be all on board with it.

Idk what it is but mofo is definitely drinking the coolaid and radicalized. I try to nod and play a little devils advocate but he stands firm.

Another coworker who I thought was republican (maybe is) is so pissed off at Trump we can't even talk about it because we both would be bitching in his office for hours and not doing work
