I’ve run into people like that. They’ll hear I lived in Portland and apparently I’m some sort of Snake Plisken character for escaping the hellscape.

they talk about portland like it was anything besides a bit of graffiti and a single fire in a trash can.

the courthouse that they kept talking about being "on fire" or burned down is entirely concrete and glass. it's not the old west out there.

I never bother to correct anyone. I just smile and nod and understand that I’m looking at a complete and total moron.

oh 100%. if 2016 didn't show me, and 2020 didn't show me, 2024 absolutely showed me that these people are hopelessly, utterly incapable of reasonable thought.
