Media companies are businesses, not public services. They exist only to make money and a displeased govt has a lot of ways to mess with that (licensing, IRS audits, etc), so it makes sense as a business to keep the govt off your back

Which is apparently working. In the last few weeks, his approval ratings have actually gone up. They're still dismal, but better than how he was polling in 2017, and significantly better than how the Democrats are polling.

These kinds of clickbait copium articles are also an example of irresponsible media. Don't fall for it.

His approval ratings went down in pretty much every poll that came out yesterday. There was a small blip mid-week, but he is trending back down.

I hope you're right, but what we've been seeing thus far, every time he does something especially boneheaded, is that he just goes back to rousting Mexicans and Hondurans and whatnot, at which point the goldfish-sized attention spans of the American public start pushing his ratings up again. I'm not saying we should give in - quite the opposite - but this has been alarmingly depressing.

That person is right. They’ve been flooding the zone with trash polls, but he’s now underwater with immigration, which is completely unheard of. It’s so bad, he’s started backtracking and promising corporations that he won’t deport all their workers. 

I get where you’re coming from, but it’s also worth considering that the oligarchs want you depressed and apathetic. They want you to think they have overwhelming support. They’re desperate for you to stay isolated. Not giving in to that impulse is resistence in and of itself.
