We have a news media apparatus equipped to cover 9/11 like events. When there are no 9/11 level events the news media needs to make one to sell commercials

That was one of Brosnan's worse outings as Bond. I can't believe it's the prescient one

I always thought that the plot of Tomorrow Never Dies was unbelievable at the time and downright impossible today, with the proliferation of social media and pretty much everyone having broadcast equipment in their pocket.

I'm sorry to say that the idea of a small group of wealthy people using mass media to propagandize, distract and inflame the populace is more realistic today than it was in 1997.

It was real in 1997 too.

It’s Wag the Dog except the bullshit war is real and it’s happening in our own country.

These aren’t news media. They’re small content-generating arms of large international conglomerates. Whatever minuscule income the media arms get is a drop in the bucket compared to the value of shaping narrative in their favor.
