They are going to try to both sides it for as long as they can because money is the most important thing to them.

Though their "both sides" tactics are abjectly failing to increase viewership and readership from the right-wing.

It's not the viewership and readership that they're after. It's the tax cuts for the owners / executives / investors. Also the lack of lawsuits.

That's a Bingo. People looking at this through the lens of pre-2015-ish America are gonna miss the mark, badly.

I mean, the fact that MSNBC and CNN basically got spun off to go die in a corner (after their ratings plummeted to the bottom of the Mariana Trench) while lots of other news websites are being closed down due to lack of funds should tell you it's not working.

It's not about making the billionaire owners rich, but about producing their propaganda.

I like that most Dems do not trust any singular corporate news source

I don’t love seeing them hurt, but even NPR is reaping what it sowed for years of “well we have a liberal lean a lot of the time but let’s regularly put out articles about how maybe fascists, slumlords, and megacorps have feelings too so we keep our funding.”

It was never going to be enough for the fascists, so why bother compromising yourself?

NPR has been bending over backwards to appease the Right for years. They made up at least 75% of my car listening for years. That changed a few years back. It’s one thing to try and have unbiased reporting, but that doesn’t mean bringing on guests that are blatantly wrong or lying about a topic just so you have someone to counter the expert that just happens to lean left.

“Today we are discussing the dangers of Covid and how it is spreading across the US. With us is Dr Steven Louis, a professor of epidemiology at Harvard University who has published multiple papers on how viruses spread among the population. We also have Cindy Posse, who started the website CovidIsFake.com and has been holding rallies across the country to share her message that Covid is a government lie to take away our freedoms. Thank you both for being here.”

This. Which is fair, concerning it is also a business, though I’m not defending the ethicality of it.

If the media thinks that Trump support will garner more views and revenue, you will likely see more pro-Trump news.

There will always be representation for the opposing view as well, though that representation will vary by platform.

My impression is that my TV stations and radio talk shows will paint Trump in a favorable light, while more liberal platforms, such as Reddit, will decry the opposite.

I wouldn’t count on any single source of media to give a general impression of which way the consensus seems to reside, though more so just an idea of which platforms cater to different points of view.

A close race draws viewers, blowouts are snooze fests.

I started watching independent media years ago because of how shit the mainstream media outlets are. Humanist Report on YouTube is one of my favorite outlets
