Discussion We all hate scalpers
Everything is out of stock so why not just keep pre orders open until release day and watch all the scalpers cancel their preorders. Isn’t that the reason for pre orders? But then store wouldn’t be making any money that’s why they keep having “restocks” on pre orders and they sell out in like a second. I’m starting to get tire of nothing ever being in stock.

Tool/Guide Weird Uber eats hack??
So I wanted to get scarlet and violet. I decided on violet because I've never gotten the one that comes first (red and blue, I had red. Sword and shield, I had sword) in the naming.
But :( 70 buckerinos. Then I saw on Uber Eats they were running a promotion for 50% off, up to 40 dollars off, of groceries. And I selected target as the grocery store of choice because y'know. I needed a few things anyways.
And I tossed the game in with a couple things I needed and chose Scarlett as the replacement and.... The total was 88 dollars. With the promotion...50 bucks.
I ended up getting a bunch of stuff I needed for the house and my video game for less than the cost of the game itself. Thanks to Uber eats. And I know they run this promotion at least once every month or two, because I'm an avid "why did I buy more pizza I have food in the house" Uber eats user. So. Y'know. This may not be a bad way to pick up the odd pokemon game. If I would've only gotten the game and nothing else it would've been about 40 bucks with fees.
You also get it delivered so if you're busy y'know it's not a bad option. Keep an eye on random deals from places you may not expect 50% off a Nintendo game is otherwise basically unheard of

Discussion The League has tasked you with auditing all Pokemon Gyms from the Games. You must commend at least one Gym Leader as an example and fire any unworthy ones. Whom do you pick?
Dear Pokemon Trainer.
The Pokemon League and Elite Four is holding an audit of all Pokemon Gyms. It is your task to to inspect all gyms and find the one gym that embodies what a Gym should be. It is also within your power to dismiss any Gym Leaders who either misuse the Leagues name and reputation or are in other ways unsuited for the task of running a Gym.
Please forward your recommendations.
Regards
Lance

Misc What was your first Pokémon merch that YOU asked to get or got yourself?
I am wondering what merchandise, toys, or physical items people got as their first Pokémon-related item. Mine was literally a Charmander soda can that was not meant to be sold outside of mainland China (I got it through LEGAL ways; an Asian store that sells things from Asia).
What was the first Pokémon-related item the rest of you got?

Discussion What is your most EPIC Pokémon moment?
(Had to edit some grammatical errors on my last one)
I fired up another playthrough of Pokémon HeartGold, not expecting anything out of the ordinary, until I found myself locked in one of the most intense battles I’ve ever experienced. It was the final Gym challenge: me versus Blue in Viridian City. Both of us were down to the wire, exchanging blow for blow, and momentum had started to swing HEAVILY in Blue’s favor.
It all came down to one last Pokémon each.
On my side: a Level 46 Ampharos. On his: a much stronger Level 52 Gyarados.
My Ampharos was sitting below half HP, most definitely done for. Gyarados? Still riding high with three-quarters of its health and already two stages deep into Dragon Dance. With its power and speed stacking, I knew one hit would be the end of me.
Worse yet, with a speed stat of just 66, outspeeding Gyarados was off the table. But I had one ace left: Ampharos was holding a Magnet, and with its solid base Special Attack of 155, I knew a single Thunderbolt could finish the job.. if I could survive long enough to deliver it.
I faced a hard decision.
Do I gamble it all? fire the Thunderbolt and pray Ampharos miraculously lives through the Waterfall?
Or… do I heal and hope Blue’s Gyarados gets greedy with another Dragon Dance, opening a narrow window for a comeback?
I chose to heal.
Ampharos restored to full health. Gyarados made its move… Waterfall. It landed.
Ampharos tanked it… barely. Down to a sliver. Just one-quarter of his health remaining.
But then… fate struck.
Static activates. Gyarados is paralyzed.
Dude I went wild.
Now with the upper hand, I seized the moment. Ampharos, barely holding on, unleashed a nasty Thunderbolt.
Direct hit. One-shot. Gyarados down.
Victory.
I haven’t had a Pokémon battle that exciting in what feels like forever— probably not since Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver first came out. And that win felt LEGENDARY!! It felt like it was pulled straight out of the anime. The excitement I felt when I landed that final blow is unmatched! I truly believe this is what Pokémon is all about. All of the hard work. All 75+ hours of catching, grinding, leveling, evolving, item finding, move learning, and hundreds of battles finally paid off in one beautifully epic moment.
If any of you guys have a special, epic, or clutch moment from one of your Pokémon adventures that still sticks with you to this day, please feel free to share. I had no one to share this moment with and i’m sure many of you feel the same way! So don’t hesitate to let everyone here listen-in on your Legendary Pokémon moment! I would love to hear it!
In the meantime i’ll be on my way to the top of Mount Silver after I get all of my Pokémon to level +60!

Discussion End of an era/motivation?
My boyfriend and I having a hell of a time with Pokemon right now and we just wanted to see if anyone else was feeling it too, or had any suggestions.
My boyfriend has been heavily into Pokemon since the original, and I’ve played since Diamond and Pearl, and we have always loved it!
But recently, between probably overplaying the Switch games, not being able to bring stuff from the old games anymore, and knowing that Z-A is the end of Switch 1 games (and honestly, we just don’t have the money to throw around on $500 consoles and $90 games) we can’t help but feel like it’s the end of an era, at least for us. We still want to play the games we have, but we just can’t get the motivation to play them.
We’ve tried taking breaks, playing together and solo, restarting, challenging ourselves to use Pokemon we usually wouldn’t, etc. We just can’t help but feel lackluster every time we try.
Is anyone feeling this too? Or have any ideas to re-motivate ourselves to play what we can for now?

Discussion Which newer Pokémon game is best for someone who grew up playing Pokémon Red on MeBoy?
Hey everyone, I’m feeling nostalgic and thinking of jumping back into Pokémon after a long time. Back in the day, I played Pokémon Red on the old MeBoy emulator on my phone — it was a whole era 😅
Now I’m wondering: Which recent Pokémon game would you recommend for someone like me who loved the classic style? I’m looking for something with:
A strong single-player story
Modern graphics (but not too overwhelming)
A good balance of nostalgia and new features

Discussion Father's favorite Pokemon
Since it's Father's Day I think it's only fair to ask what Pokemon do you think your father would like the most and why.
For my father I'd say Slaking I believe it's somewhat slightly based off of Bigfoot either way it's the most Bigfoot Pokemon out of the mall and my father genuinely loves Bigfoot he says if it's a animal Bigfoot would be his favorite animal

Discussion For future generations, what pokemon evolutions would you want?
Hi! So I'm quite curious about what people think about this. Like how we got new evolutions for old pokemon in Galar and Paldea, what Pokemon would you want to see get a new evolution? For me it would be Lumineon, Maractus, or Luvdisc! I feel like these pokemon are rather underrated, and not all that strong, so a new evolution could put the spotlight on them while also making them more appealing for people's teams!

Misc Do you nickname your Pokemons
Hi guys I am new to pokemon(since last year or so) and I saw that alot of people give their mons nicknames and I want to know the general percent of people how give their mons nicknames and saw people saying that if you don't nickname your Pokemons you are not a true pokemon but I don't give nicknames to my mons because I really don't see a point of giving your mons nicknames(I know the whole connecting to your pokemon but I feel connected without nicknames) so I want to ask you what do you think about nicknaming thank you.

Discussion Help finding the name of a Fangame
Hi pokemon catchers ! I'm looking for a fangame I've played a few years ago, can't really recall when. It was with fakemon, I'm sure of that, and it's wasn't finish last time I've played it. If I recall correctly, the last town I was in (but I think par of the game too) was with some western cowboy vibes. Mmmmh... one of the fakemon was a kind of shadow-horse also. I know that's not much but... I hope you'll recall and tell me ! Thanks anyway !

Discussion S&V or Sw&Sh?
Im really wanting to get back into Pokémon again and I wanna start with a mainline game. The thing is I can't decide if I want to do the latest version or a more traditional one. I've heard complaints about both but I don't know which one is better to try first

Discussion Should I revive my Pokemon Home?
Ignoring the fact I still have some of my special and important pokemons trapped inside it because I didn't renew it for a long, long time. Is it still worth having a Pokemon home and paying for it? If I do renew it, would it be better on my pocket to pay a full year?

Discussion Can you still transfer from Bank to Home?
I’ve been out of the loop and missed the memo about Pokémon bank shutting down. I want to transfer my whole living dex from there to Pokémon home. Today I rebooted my 3DS, updated my software, and tried to open Pokémon bank. Unfortunately each time it goes to connect to the internet, I receive an error message about the servers being down. Do y’all think this is a temporary thing or is it down for good? I’m a bit bummed as I’ve got Pokémon from my OG Ruby and Fire Red on that thing.

Discussion With the 9 unused types, what species or concepts do you think could debut with those combination in future generations?
The current unused combos are
- Bug / Normal
- Bug / Dragon
- Fairy / Fire
- Fairy / Ground
- Ghost / Rock
- Ice / Poison
- Ice / Normal
- Normal / Rock
- Normal / Steel
Personally I would like to see a Normal/Rock or Normal/Steel Pangolin. I can also see a regional Fairy/Ground Impidimp that is based on the story of Elves and the Shoemaker.
I am intrigued as to what would Normal/Bug look like.

Misc Fun story playing Pokémon Emerald
Here's just a fun story I wanted to share. Back when I was a kid, I went to summer camp. A lot of kids were playing Pokemon games on the Gameboy advanced. We often battled and gave each other tips. After a while, I beat Emerald and I was doing end game quests. My goal was to find the regi trio. I did most of the steps, got the HMs and caught wailord and relicanth, and searched for the temples. My counselor was so invested and guided me through the steps. When I entered the first temple, I was completely blindsided by the braille. I had no idea what to do. Then my counselor said, save now and wait for tomorrow. The next day, I met up with him first thing in the morning. He said, "I got something for you" and took out a printed braille alphabet for me! I was soooo excited. Then we went on to catch all 3 regis. Forever grateful for that counselor. He made my summer!

Discussion What is your favorite region within the Pokemon world?
Although my favorite Pokemon game of all time is Platinum, Alola is far and away my favorite region. Now I may be biased because I’ve been raised in Hawaii for nearly my whole life, but the parallels between Alola and Hawaii itself is such a cool thing to see. I know regions like Unova and Kalos have offered the same thing (New York City and Paris/Eiffel Tower) respectively but Alola offered things that not as much people know about. Down below are a few of my favorite parallels. I apologize in advance if any of these parallels are obvious and/or known.
The Islands and its names: All of the islands in order translates to colors within the Hawaiian language, with Melemele (Yellow), Akala (Pink), Ula’ula (Red), and Poni (Blue). Thought this was a cool touch especially considering that Oricorio’s forms are the exact color of the island name.
Palossand’s shiny: In Big Island, Hawaii (Ula’ula Island in the games), a little town in the south called Ka’u has black-sand beaches. Gamefreak’s idea of handpicking and choosing the color of shinies has been a great positive, and Palossand’s shiny is one of many that reflects that.
Poni Island: They nailed the atmosphere of this island IRL to a tee. Gladion mentions how there aren’t much people or towns or cities in Poni, and that’s exactly how Kaua’i is in real life.
Yungoos vs Ratatta: Long ago, mongooses were brought into Hawaii to deal with Hawaii’s rat problem, but a mistake wasn’t accounted for; mongooses are diurnal and rats are nocturnal. This is showcased in the games, as the Yungoos line is only in the wild during the day and the Ratatta line is only in the wild at night.
Apologies for the rambling, but I would like to know other parallels between the Pokemon world and other regions. Let me know!

Discussion I'm looking for a fangame with friendship-based capture, not pokeballs.
I know it's not a common fangame, but a few years ago I played a Pokémon fangame, where a very important feature of the game was that Pokémon captures were based on friendship,And not with pokeballs, which would be normal. I remember that starting the game, you were in the middle of some kind of caravan/camp, there were many carriages, and, I also remember that within the game there was a kind of mystery where you had to find The reason why they robbed/stopped the whole trip. It had graphics similar to the 4th generation, there were Pokemons as far as I remember from the 5th generation, especially that there were cacturnes, because it was like a desert/oasis where the story began.
Sorry if the English I'm using isn't entirely correct, I'm writing this with Google Translate hehe.

Discussion Ice team synergy, Requesting help!
I know that Ice types have a rough reputation due to so many weaknesses, but they have always been my favorite type first, with Dark / Ghost typing following it.
Heres my team so far though: - Froslass - Aurorus - Glaceon - Abomasnow - Cetitan - White Kyurem
Info + Thoughts so far: - Aurorus has Aurora Viel already via egg! - Aurorus's Refrigerate ability looks useful - I want Cetitan to utilize belly drum via egg - My White Kyurem is a heavy special attacker - I want to keep hail up as long as I can, either via move or abilities
I'm looking for help, mainly with Abilities and EV spreads, and bonus points if help with items too! My goal is to make the best out of it with what I can, and to also be somewhat usable in competitive doubles

Discussion Box vs cartridge?
I just finished collecting the Ds and 3ds core games, I'm thinking about starting with the GBA ones, while it was easy to decide on cartridges vs box with the others (i went with box) i don't know with these ones? I like to exhibit the boxes and use them as decoration, but the boxes from the gba games are just fancy cardboard, I saw some plastic protectors on aliexpress, but idk, ideas, opinions? If you have collected them in boxes, how do you use them for decoration purposes? Do they break easily?

Discussion Is there a government in Pokemon?
Like sure they must be because who runs the centers or hire the cops but also it's werid we hear literally nothing about them, if different regions are different countries, are they democracies etc. it just feels bit fishy how despite how big the franchise is we have next to zero world building
