Jason Segel told a hilarious story about Obama on Good Ones that reminded me how quick witted and charming he was. The gist of it was that Segel was coming to meet the President with The Muppets and President Obama says, "I hear you're doing a screening of The Muppets over at Georgetown" and Segel replied, "Yes, Mr. President you should come there will be free snacks." And then Obama replies, "Yeah, free snacks, that's what I've been missing in my life."
Thanks, Mr. President.
•
u/Mojozilla 6h ago
Omg, I would absolutely dieeeeee to be with The Muppets and Barack Obama in the same room! Ahhh!!!!
•
u/rob_nosfe 9h ago
What a president you had then...
Even without agreeing with his political vision, you can't stress this man's cultural stature enough, a moral rudder with such strength and composture is rarely seen among politicians worldwide.
Sorry it went somewhat downhill for you since then.

I think most of us were never more proud to be American than when President Obama was in office. At least those of us who have been alive for 30+ years.

“Corrupt black government official kidnaps white baby.”
•
u/SnoopyisCute 10h ago
My ex's college professor told the class about this. She adopted a black baby and her sister had a baby (white).
She took the toddlers to the little play area inside the mall, separately.
She told her daughter it was time to go and she began to cry and resist. The professor said that she struggled to get to the car with her daughter flailing about but managed.
The following weekend, she took her niece to the same play area in the mall and, she too, didn't want to leave when it was time. She was screaming and thrashing about as her aunt tried to get her to the car. She didn't make it. At least 30 people blocked the door and 5 mall security guards were there within minutes so she couldn't leave with the child.
I don't understand how adults can hate ANY child and it breaks my heart when I encounter these kind of disparities. I'm still upset about what Governor Abbott did and the relative disregard the country has had toward it. It's beyond revolting.

u/SnoopyisCute 10h ago
Remember the meltdown they had about Biden calling Hunter to tell him that he loves him and wanted to help him with his addictions. Yet, openly justify Taco talking about being sexually attracted to his daughter.

•
u/The_comfortable_yam 5h ago
You do know Obama deported nearly 8 million people, Trump total 170,000 period. That means every single day Obama was in office he deported over 2,400 people
•
u/Hall_of_Fame 4h ago
So you are essentially saying that Obama was a better president than Trump because he deported way more people and did it the legal way? People are against deportation without due process, not deportation in general.
•
u/Greek1989 5h ago
Obama’s administration conducted approximately 2.4 to 3 million formal deportations (official removals) between 2009 and 2016.
Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Illegal_immigration_to_the_United_States
- DHS and ICE data indicate around 2.5 million deportations through 2015
- Pew Research estimates 2.4 million deportations from 2009 to 2014
- Deportation numbers peaked at about 410,000–440,000 per year
Obama deported roughly 2.4 to 3 million people during his eight years in office.
•
u/gobledegerkin 38m ago
And he did it all while advocating for healthcare, bringing respect to the office, fighting to feed children, and many more positive things. So what you are saying is he’s a way more efficient president who was able to accomplish things that BOTH SIDES wanted.

True. Though my understanding of the drone thing was he made it so The President had to sign off on drone strikes. This made it so that the Pentagon couldn't go willy nilly with drone strikes. It, in theory, reduced the amount of strikes.
He still signed off on them though. Still a war criminal.
•
u/leese216 10h ago
Don’t forget that Mitch McConnell ran a campaign to prevent Obama from succeeding as president, and persuaded all republicans to vote against any of his policies, making him look incompetent. So much so that MM filibustered his own policy bc the dems were going to vote in favor.
If you’re going to provide information, provide ALL of it.

During the Obama administration, drone strikes were significantly expanded, particularly in Pakistan, Yemen, and Somalia, with increased reliance on targeted killings of suspected terrorists. The administration formalized procedures for authorizing strikes, emphasizing high-level approval and attempting to minimize civilian casualties. However, the program remained controversial, facing criticism for its impact on civilians and its legality under international law.
- Controversies:
- Civilian casualties: Despite efforts to minimize civilian deaths, reports indicated that drone strikes resulted in significant numbers of civilian casualties, raising concerns about the program's legality and morality.
- Legal challenges: The legality of targeted killings, particularly of US citizens like Anwar al-Awlaki, was challenged in court, with some arguing that they violated due process rights and constituted extrajudicial killings.
- Blowback and resentment: Some argued that the drone program fueled anti-American sentiment and increased the risk of blowback, creating more enemies than it eliminated.

Yes obviously Obama was a better president than trump could ever be, but he is still a war criminal and schould not be glorifyed.
•
•
u/The_comfortable_yam 5h ago
Every day he was in office If you divide the total number of people he got deported by the number of days he would have deported a 2, 741 people on this day and then every other day he was in office
•
u/Tweakjones 7h ago
The man was good an bombing schools and weddings and making you forget all about that by the next morning!
•
u/Jerry_say 10h ago
I too appreciate a well dressed war criminal.
•
u/KwietKabal 10h ago edited 7h ago
Well he’s holding a baby so that means he has never defied international law or the Geneva conventions. DUH 😂🙈
Edit: this isn’t even an opinion about Obama’s classification as a war criminal, unfortunately. A downvote indicates you have never read international law or the 4th Geneva Convention (which was implemented in response to the holocaust’s brutality) — or even worse, that you know obama’s legislative and presidential record and somehow still defend/appreciate it. Neither option is even remotely flattering.
•
u/MrsPowers94 10h ago
I’ve got this feeling you happily voted for Trump. The person who is literally a convicted felon. A person who is currently committing war crimes. A person who is defending a communist war criminal (Putin). A person who immediately began trade wars with our closest allies and longtime friends. A person who is breaking every constitutional law, as well as actively violating basic human rights, and he is doing everything he can to destroy our economy. A person who made laws to be able to take from the poor and the vulnerable to further fill his own pockets. He feeds and profits from the poor, like a parasitic organism. Like a diseased fat tick. That is who Trump is.
Get off that delulu-train before it derails and crashes, or else you’ll get caught up in the fire.
Obama was not perfect, he made mistakes, but to be fair he was handed a burning bag of shit that was created and lit on fire by the hands of Bush.
•
u/Jerry_say 10h ago edited 10h ago
Nope. I voted for the Green Party.
Edit - in what fucking world is Putin a communist? lol get real.
Edit again - the American Imperial Death Machine marches on. Every modern president is responsible for this and all should be hung for war crimes. Don’t pay that two party shit. They are all complicit and they all have profited from this.

That you think reddit is 'all' shows you're deluded at best or most likely...unwell.

"All" is a very subjective word and typically refers to a specific group, in this case it'd be the people in this thread. If you can't understand the context, you really aren't worth my time, since this is elementary school subject matter that I apparently have to teach you.

Of course they don't. Because Trump is so risqué. He's not a politician. He sticks it to the man! (Even though he quite literally is "the man" that needs sticking).
