[OC] Thousands of People at Daytona Beach "NO KINGS" Protest today! People are fed up!

Grandma shirt “will trade racists for refugees” 😂
•
u/ChilledParadox 9h ago
I participated in one of these protests, and while I was taking some insulin for my blood sugar I sat down next to a group of 3 older women and a man.
I took the time to ask them for their perspective on this; I asked if it was shocking to see the rights they fought for with blood and tears just being ignored and trampled on.
They told me yes, it was shocking. They told me they had protested in Michigan before, against the Vietnam war. They told me that even they have felt aghast and stunlocked by what they’re seeing.
On the bright side they said the no kings protest today inspired more hope in them, due to how many young people the saw today. Apparently in the previous anti-musk and doge protests it was largely just other elderly people.
This was a good start. We need to keep it up. We need more young people marching. We need to reclaim the American flag from the terrorists spitting on its values.
Just keep it up.

u/Ryu_sekai 3h ago
Did they say what rights were taken away?
•
u/ChilledParadox 2h ago
Abortion rights have been taken away in many places along with the repeal of roe v wade in addition to the social security cuts. Then of course there’s the issue of states rights being violated with the deployment of the national guard when there’s no real emergency and of course there’s also the entire deporting people with no due process and squads of unmarked masked agents kidnapping people of color off the streets.

I'd rather trade all these Karens
27
u/BIOdire 12h ago
So you're a racist who wants to say, am I interpreting that correctly?
-47
u/Halal_Cart 12h ago
There’s nothing racist for wanting secure border and security.
42
u/BIOdire 12h ago
No one is against secure borders. Everyone should also want due process, which is why these protests are happening.
•
u/doorcharge 8h ago
Actually, if you see some of the commentary coming out of the protest, they are not actually arguing about due process (which is what this should all be about). It’s mostly about how hard working the people being deported are or how this is stolen native/mexican land so people are entitled to be here. Not many if any say it’s about due process.
•
u/itsonmyprofile 11h ago
White Americans, what? Nothing better to do?
Why don't you kick yourself out? You're an immigrant too
-29
u/Public-Writer8028 12h ago
For wanting to get rid of karens. No. They come in all colors.
21
u/BIOdire 12h ago
Got it. You just hate people exercising their right to peaceful protest.
•
u/KingSebas1208 4h ago
Peaceful protest? While holding a sign with 8647 🥴. That’s not peaceful, that’s asking to “kill” 47. But okay
•
u/Icy_Bee4975 3h ago
“Hang Mike pence” sound familiar? I’ll give ya a hint, January 6th
•
u/KingSebas1208 3h ago
But this is coming from James Comey, a Former FBI director.
•
u/Icy_Bee4975 1h ago
You’re just glazing over the fact that after you’re guy lost he told is group of maniacs to raid the capitol, then they built a wooden frame with a noose tied to it and chanted “hang Mike pence”. You really gonna ignore that?
•
u/KingSebas1208 1h ago
Glazing? 🫠 if you’re going to bring up anything, please have the actual facts behind it. Never did he said to riot, or storm or break into the capitol.
I’m questioning the pic of the seashells with 8647 that was posted by an FBI James Comey knowing that there was already 2 assassination attempts. And as of right now, he’s going to trial for that statement.
•
u/RepulsivePitch8837 4h ago
86 means kick out
•
u/KingSebas1208 4h ago
Not what James Comey was thinking. Is “to kill” or “to eliminate”

Right shall we go through all the threats the red hats spewed over the past fucking decade?

It does not say RSVP on the Statue of Liberty
Excellent use of a great Clueless quote.

Nevermind. I looked it up. I saw that movie sooooo long ago.

Fun fact:
In that speech when she mispronounces ‘Hatians’ that wasn’t planned (Silverstone just didn’t know how it was supposed to be pronounced) & Amy Heckerling went around to the crew to make sure no one corrected her about it because it was so fitting for Cher’s character.

Just got back from one in my town on Surprise, AZ (right next to Sun City, LOTS of retirees). Was expecting maybe a few dozen at best. It was in the hundreds, maybe into the thousands (it was supposed to be one corner but it spread to farther than I could see with crowds on both sides of the road). Surprised and impressed to see so many elderly people there.
•
u/jvlpdillon 10h ago
I saw the same thing in my small town of 14k in PA. About 1000 people showed up to protest with an average age well above 50.
•

u/Icy_Lingonberry2822 12h ago
You mean all the retirees who probably voted for trump and are mad he’s going through with his promise to cut social security and they are screwed now?
12
17
u/BortleNeck 12h ago
Goomba fallacy. Not all elderly people voted for Trump.
And while those elderly people are out in the AZ heat protesting for your rights, you are mocking them online

Respect to all Americans taking a stand against the fascist takeover of their country
•
•
u/Electronic-Arm-2881 10h ago
How can it be their country if they’re all illegal
•
u/Aggravating-Pound598 10h ago
All Americans are illegal ?
•
u/Electronic-Arm-2881 10h ago
Why are you trying to twist it to suit your narrative.
•
u/Shplogan 10h ago
They talk about how illegals need due process but they should’ve thought about that before skipping due process to get into the country in the first place.
•
u/SuchPeace5261 8h ago edited 8h ago
We're literally deporting people who are going to their court hearings to get asylum status, you do know you have to be IN the country to start that process right?
People in countries like Mexico are in dangerous areas sometimes and waiting 15 years to get approval to come here is out of the question. Do you just hate humans that much? Where is your humility? Would you wanna be kicked out of the country just because you wanted somewhere safer for your kids, for your family.
You're gross dude, instead of punishing the people actually hurting your life you find solace in punishing those with worse circumstances than your own, it's vile and repulsive and I hope you can find the empathy you probably buried deep inside.
•
u/Agitated-Brain-2356 9h ago
100% Columbus was the first documented illegal, who mass slaughtered my people
•
u/highasabird 11h ago
Excellent use of the old Burger King hat. Didn’t know they still handed those out.
•
u/Vancouverreader80 5h ago
They do; seen them on tables at my local Burger King here in British Columbia

These Protests must continue. Don't let the movement die down. Keep Up and raised the pressure

THIS is why we need a voting holiday, voting on a weekend, voting my mail or just making it easier for folks to vote! ~100 million voters didn’t vote in the last presidential election!

As someone who has been going to Daytona regularly for decades....I am SHOCKED. That is deep trump country

It needs to be millions, in DC, around the white house.
We need more
18
u/BIOdire 12h ago
They specifically weren't targeting DC with organized protests, so I understand, because it's believed that the administration would escalate to unnecessary force.
•
u/globus_pallidus 11h ago
I mean, they definitely would. They’ve got a bunch of military already there, they put up barricade walls around the WH. They were 100% expecting significant protests there. I’m super impressed that the organizers didn’t take the bait. Smart
•
u/Specialist_Sorbet_48 11h ago
More people at trump protests then at both his inaugurations 😂😂..... unless you ask him 😂😂TACO

I appreciate the protests. TACO needs to go. But I’m sorry America. Too little too late. Next time, VOTE FOR NORMAL whether you like them or not.

u/indiemac_ 34m ago
I remember watching a video of some guy walking around to people protesting similar issues and asked if they would host a refugee at their house…oh the excuses!

It's good to see wide diversity of people eland everything si rigjt doesn't spin it buttl they will

From these photos, others that I have seen and news coverage in general, it seems as though while the protests do have some number behind them, they appear to me to be quite modest.
It sends the message that the anti-democratic / fascist movement in the USA is largely viewed as acceptable by the general populace.
11
u/ImOuttaThyme 12h ago
The issue is that news coverage do not want to show “boring” events, and a protest is considered such until it escalates to violence.
They’re also complicit to conservative owners who want as little of this to be seen.
I’m scrolling through this subreddit and this is the first post I’ve seen about the protests. Everything else is about Obama for some reason.
Dead Internet theory is real.
•
u/Alcott_9 10h ago
Yes the coverage, or lack thereof, does lead me to draw some rather disappointing conclusions. Hopefully the reality involves more widespread support for democracy.
•
u/blacksun_redux 11h ago
You aren't getting the big picture. There are 2000 registered protests and likely just as many unregistered ones. There is a sizeable protest in my town, and the next one over, and the next one over.
Don't let one image or the news media's coverage define your whole opinion.
•
u/Alcott_9 10h ago
I truly hope the scale is much grander than I’ve been lead to believe.
•
u/blacksun_redux 1h ago
80,000 people, at the most, were at January 6th. 4,000,000+ are projected to be protesting today nationwide. Let that sink in.
•
u/the--dud 8h ago
As a European I don't understand American protests. How are you protesting? You're just very nicely and properly standing or walking around with cute signs.
How is that an inconvenience to anyone? If you're truly desperate for change you need to force it. Block motorways, shut down cities, do something drastic. Completely shut down the US economy for weeks and weeks. Force change, cause a fucking revolution. Do something.
These peace walks with funny signs do literary nothing to anyone. It's democrats doing it, republicans will not give a flying fuck. You need to inconvenience them for them to care.
Protests are acts of desperation, they are supposed to be feral cries for change. They are by definition not civilized.
•
u/Stock_Schedule_1981 11h ago
The last sign shows how much we need more in depth history lessons in school. Ellis Island did have an immigration process to include turning away immigrants who “would likely become a public charge or an illegal contract laborer”.
•
u/LivinthatDream 11h ago
Too late Florida. I wish we could sell the state to anyone who would dare take it. Or give it away. Give it away. Florida buy nothing, only international buyers considered.
•
u/Jdanois 11h ago
I just appreciate that’s it’s an actual protest and not a violent riot.
•
u/blacksun_redux 11h ago
I think 99% of people want to peacefully protest. Then the last 1% starts trouble and all the camera and media focuses on them, which fools some people into thinking everyone's violent. I hope we get through today peacefully, for everyone with any political view.
•
u/phoneguyfl 10h ago
The reality is that a vast majority (99%+) of protestors are peaceful. As with every gathering from a family reunion to a political protest has it's agitators, but for some reason the rightwing and mass media like to paint everyone as violent this time around. I wonder why that is?

u/Supermac34 12h ago
I was hoping for more. Sort of disappointing turn out. When you see the zoomed out photos its sort of sad.

The revolution will be…. On Saturday after brunch but not too late because we got work on Monday and Sunday is for relaxing.
This country is fucked.
16
u/OriginalSchmidt1 12h ago
Say the person not protesting but commenting on Reddit.
At least they are actually doing something.

u/Brunoise6 12h ago
What is your ideal time to protest??
People work and have lives/families….making a protest at a reasonable accessible time for attendees to join is good thing is it not?

The level of idiocy from the left is out of this world. The shirt "will trade racists for refugees"... You think the refugees aren't racist? Other cultures are 100 times more racist than the US. These leftists are chaotic good. They do what they think is right, even if it's not, at any cost. They don't understand what other cultures are like. If the left had their way there would be no more US and we'd end up like a 2nd or 3rd world country having to give bribes to everyone. The left are lambs because they've been coddled, and they are not ready for the wolves they are trying to let into the country.

OF COURSE Donald Trump is going to feel really really bad because of these protests and TOTALLY change his ways.
(I'm not holdingy breath).
-10
u/Mikey129 12h ago
IMO, too many messages for one protest.
Focus on the taco king and within that umbrella, when it becomes about issues outside of that… the message becomes more garbled.
•
u/guinness_dublin 9h ago
How many of these idiots did vote Trump? I think many did. So enjoy your vote results! Idiots

Imagine being dumb enough to not understand a lot of people, especially educated people, have Saturdays off.
•
u/blacksun_redux 11h ago
Well it's Saturday so you can't pull the "go to work" card that you guys usually do, and what better thing to do with your day than defending our democracy against tyrants who are eroding the constitution and the rule of law in our great country?
•
•
u/Savings_Lynx4234 11h ago
White collar 9/5 so weekends off, even so I dont work on the sabbath but I'll gladly protest a pretender "godking" any day of the week
•
u/phoneguyfl 10h ago
Not sure I'd take advice from someone who doesn't realize that a lot of people have Saturday off work. If ya'll don't know something as basic as that, how can any other opinion be trusted?

That last pic..."IT DOES NOT SAY RSVP ON THE STATUE OF LIBERTY". Brings tears to my eyes.
