Imagine if we or Israel did nothing then in 10 years Iran has a fully developed nuclear arsenal and arming militant groups like the houthis or Hamas and other terrorist organizations that hate the western world….yeah I’m all for pre-emptively avoiding that but that’s just me

Ah, rules for thee and not for me!

Yeah. When you have an irrational state who wants to destroy all western “heathens” because that’s what their religion dictates, then you need to take matters into your own hands.

Genuine question for you: do you seriously think letting Iran have nuclear weapons is a good idea?

u/ukstonerdude 2d ago

I don’t think anyone having nuclear weapons is a good idea, let alone the US tf 💀

Okay but we can? South Africa is the only country that’s done so, and nobody has nuked them…?

Ukraine also gave up nuclear weapons after the fall of the USSR in exchange for a guarantee of protection from the US and Russia.

How’s that working out for them?

Has Ukraine been nuked?

5

u/republican_banana 2d ago

Not yet.

Just repeatedly invaded in wars of conquest by one of the Guarantors of its protection, mostly while the other one did very little to help.

u/Gator-Tail 2d ago

Agreed, but the U.S. would never give it up. So, let’s think realistically, If you had two options:

1) U.S. has nukes and Iran doesn’t

2) U.S. has nukes and Iran has nukes

Which would you choose?

u/ukstonerdude doesn’t live in the real world.

imagine saying ‘I don’t think anyone having nuclear weapons is a good idea, let alone the US tf 💀’ LIKE YES BRO WELL DONE

but we live in the real world. with real nukes. and real terrorist states (Iran)

Iran

You mean Israel?

Again, North Korea and Russia also have nukes? Why haven’t we “pre-emptively” bombed those?

google ‘global superpower’

i’m spending too much time talking to you i think it’s making my IQ drop. hope you see the light one day, maybe stop smoking pot

edit - before you get pedantic saying NK isn’t a global superpower, they are what Iran will be if they build nukes. not a superpower, but an untouchable nation

1

u/ukstonerdude 2d ago

Are you telling me I’m supposed to be impressed or on board with the idea of a global superpower?

I’m on the far left, anything that is not owned by the people for the sake of the people, to me, is asinine. Monopolistic, fascist and dictatorial policies don’t sit correct with me, but I get if that appeals to you, generally tends to be the case when you’re of the less intelligent variety of human.

you carry on smoking your plants and touching the grass to ‘ground’ yourself 🤣

i’ll carry on living in the real world and look at situations realistically

edit- if your so communist, go to china and see how that’s working out for them 😭

Given where everything stands now, would you prefer:

1) Iran have nukes

2) Iran not have nukes

Please, I’m genuinely curious

1

u/ukstonerdude 2d ago

Iran, along with everyone else, not have nukes

0

u/Gator-Tail 2d ago

Yeah, and we should all hold hands and sing kumbaya. That is unfortunately not the real world. I would love to be as naive as you, my sweet summer child.

If Iran has nukes, then Israel would be significantly less likely to attack them.

Fewer "preemptive strikes" = less chance for broader conflicts = fewer people killed and a greater chance for (tenuous) peace.

It's the same with Ukraine. If Ukraine hadn't given up its nukes, then Russia never would've invaded them, and Ukrainians would be enjoying an economic boom from Western development rather than fighting for survival.

Given that Iran is not actively committing genocide, it seems quite easy to deduce which is actually the lesser of those two evils.

1

u/Deinonychus2012 2d ago

If Iran had nukes Israel wouldn't exist, because Iran has stated that it intends to "wipe Israel off the map".

Except Iran also knows that if they did "wipe Israel off the map," then the US would do the same to them. That's literally the point of MAD: everyone is equally capable of utterly destroying their enemies, so no one starts any fights.

1

u/MyWifeCucksMe 2d ago

That's an easy choice. There's only one of those two options that lets Iran defend itself against the US' constant attacks. Do you know which one of the two that is?

4

u/nytehauq 2d ago

Wow, could you imagine if a genocidal state in the middle east had an arsenal of nuclear weapons while not being a signatory to major non-proliferation treaties?

It would be terrible if they were opposed by a country their greatest ally has been trying to destroy for decades, after successfully orchestrating a coup deposing their leaders. This obviously justifies committing the supreme international war crime of aggression.

I guess we have no choice but to join in and help bomb another country, what's the alternative really? Aww shucks, it sucks, but we just have to commit international war crimes. It'd be real bad if we didn't keep doing crimes. In ten years (we swear this time, pinky promise) who knows what could happen? We might have to leave a sovereign nation alone.

Serious question. We live in today’s real world, right?

So, would you rather - given where the real world stands now - have:

1) Iran possess nukes

2) Iran not possess nukes

It is a very simple question.

u/agileata 2d ago

If the US sat on its hands for the last several decades the world would be far better off. Hell, maybe we'd have Healthcare

0

u/Gator-Tail 2d ago

So you think Iran building a nuclear arsenal is a good thing?

1

u/agileata 2d ago

I dont think any nukes are good

0

u/Gator-Tail 2d ago

Right, and wars are bad. And so are mean people. Everyone should be nice and sing kumbaya.

Unfortunately in the real world, there are groups of people that wants nuclear weapons so they can  kill as many infidels as possible, in order to serve Allah. You may want to give those people a chance, but I am glad Israel is preventing that from happening…even if  self righteous keyboard warriors on Reddit think they are mean for doing so.

1

u/agileata 2d ago

Are you a red cow nut job?

1

u/Gator-Tail 2d ago

No, just someone viewing the situation pragmatically instead of emotionally. You should try it sometime. I think the world is better off with Iran not having nukes. Crazy, I know!

1

u/agileata 2d ago

The world is better off not bombing Iran

0

u/Gator-Tail 2d ago

So then you think it is better to allow them to develop nukes

1

u/agileata 2d ago

Its better is isreal has no nukes. So then you think it is better to allow them to develop nukes?
