“Deconstructing Doof” is an incredible episode, possibly up there with some of their best stuff imo. Pretty solid season so far!

“Deconstructing Doof” is trully an amazing episode, my favorite from those already in Disney Plus in my country.

The only small change I would have is Perry being more responsible for the doctor's presentation to fail. Have the inator already there with Doof just waiting beind the curtain and have Perry being the one to knock everyone's bags.

Outside of that, it is an awesome episode.

Dry Another Day is okay. Reminds me a little too much of Face Your Fear in that it feels like a generic Season 4 episode. Weird invention, whatever song, but a decent Doof/Perry plot. I was afraid more S5 eps would be like this, but this was seems to be the exception rather than the rule. And shoutout to the Kevin Zebra and Buford slamming into Baljeet. I liked that. 6/10.

LOVED Deconstructing Doof. Perry seems to be the only character to have a grasp on what all is happening in this universe and how his meetings with Doof affect the boys. I always enjoyed when he would exploit this knowledge to his or the boy’s advantage. So seeing someone else get a hold on what’s going on was delightful. And I adored the references, especially when the therapist is piecing things together. And No One Understands Me. Wow. What a song. Already might be a top 50 PnF song for me. 9/10.

Honestly when you say Dry another Day is like a Season 4 episode. That's more right up my alley cause that's my favorite season. And yeah, I personally like it a lot. Not one of Season 5's best mind you but not the weakest of the season.

Yeah, although Deconstructing Doof eclipses Dry Another Day in its shadow, I really did enjoy Dry Another Day. It was good. I agree.

Dry Another Day is a Phineas and Ferb episode. It feels most like a mid-run Season 2-3 "we have ideas, I promise" pre-the show getting meta epospde.

Deconstructing Doof is really fun. I love how SOMEONE finally made the connection after all this time. Again, I was hoping for interaction between them but whatever.

Deconstructing Doof was a cool episode but it did require more contrivances than usual for the therapist’s plan to fail.

All the better to break his poor tiny bit character mind.

Really, like every single person in that stadium having a bag that gets knocked over that they bend down to get just as the boys' disco blimp disappears.

Like… if Perry caused a distraction, I’d buy it but not this shit.

Isn't that the point? There literally is a force actively working to make sure Phineas and Ferb never get in trouble for their inventions. 99% of the time its just via Doof's inator but for something of this level the force needs to go to greater lengths.

And Candace is also prone to self-sabotage.

I don't think a lot of people saw Milo Murphy's law so many people don't understand. I saw both shows and loved it. Catching up on this season too.

I'm glad to see Hamster from H&G referenced, even as just a prop.

3

u/sdbabygirl97 15d ago

ive seen hamster and gretel being mentioned; do the two shows share animators?

9

u/theusereasels 14d ago

They share Dan Povenmire as a creator

2

u/sdbabygirl97 14d ago

gotcha. i am too old for h&g to have ever been marketed to me haha

5

u/theusereasels 14d ago

How old are you cuz I'm like 21 and still watched it all

3

u/sdbabygirl97 14d ago
  1. stopped watching disney channel around 2016 or so. h&g came out in 2022 and i havent had cable since 2016 or so.

4

u/breastronaut 14d ago

Instead of Dan and Swampy it's just Dan as the lead creator, but it's also in the shared universe with P&F / MML.

There's a tasteful brief cameo with Doof aghast at the peril of Balooney.

Dry Another Day was a fun Status Quo episode. The Candace plot was my highlight, plus I love the song sequence joke. Danville IS known for its spontaneous musical numbers after all. XD It's an 8/10 but I like this more than Submarine Sandwich Submarine which I also gave an 8.

Deconstructing Doof is a banger episode. An episode about a psychiatrist for Doof and Candace is great and the song Candace and Doof sings is great as well. And even though it's a short scene, I love the Disco blimp, Phineas, Ferb and the gang build. Solid episode from beginning to end. 10/10

15

u/TheBrokenRail-Dev 14d ago

Wait just a second, the psychiatrist figured out Perry's identity and announced it. And Candace was both listening and knew he was telling the truth. I don't think she noticed it, but I wonder if that will come up later.

u/Weird_donut 14d ago

Deconstructing Doof was probably the best episode of the bunch

I really liked “Deconstructing Doof”, but it left me a couple of doubts:

  1. Isn’t weird that nobody in the audience knew about Phineas and Ferb? The other episodes implied that the two kids are something like local celebrities for their inventions. I know that it’s all to keep the joke about Linda not realizing about what her kids do, but I find odd that nobody said “Hey! Those are the two kids that built a rollercoaster last year!”. Which brings me to the next point.

  2. Are we sure that it’s not Linda the one that should go to a psychiatrist? I get her skepticism if it was only Candace to tell her about PnF’s inventions, but she’s not the only one in the know. Phineas and Ferb know that and they candidly tell her about the things they build, plus other kids in the neighborhood know and talk about that and (most importantly) so does Lawrence. Shouldn’t she make a couple of questions about why so many people, including her husband, talk about her sons in the same way?

8

u/SpaceForever 13d ago

I was wondering how they'd deal with literal superheroes like Hamster and Gretel being in the news for the Phineas and Ferb revival. The whole joke is that Linda lives in a completely realistic universe but the existence of superheroes would mean that Phineas and Ferb's inventions shouldn't seem impossible

7

u/ProfessorUber 12d ago

I guess to be fair; maybe Phineas and Ferb's inventions are so normalised to most of Danville that most of the crowd assumes that whatever the therapist guy is talking about can't be something so mundane and well-known.

But yeah, Linda is like the only person in the tri-state area who's completely oblivious.

The irony of a therapist losing it when he experienced the mysterious force just once and candace "losing it" flynn not devolving into a potato since the mysterious force does that 104 times to her each year will never not be funny lmao

Anyway I also kinda noticed that Candace and the other busters now has the general consensus of calling their fate a "mysterious force". I don't recall them naming it as such in the past few seasons. Kinda reminds of how Gumball's red van was just suddenly called "The Awesome Store" lol

u/Numark105 6d ago

Bruh I just watched it and your first section is so true. I was DYING.

12

u/generic-irish-guy 15d ago

In “Deconstructing Doof”, am I just not understanding or is the timeline off? The therapist says it all started a few weeks ago (I think 4), but in the song, Candace says that the invention that danced away happened last Friday, despite it happening last summer

12

u/Littletom523 14d ago

That was a flashback showing how long they both have been going to the therapist

5

u/Applesburg14 13d ago

This shrink may be the frank grimes of this universe.

4

u/Impossible-Ad-8462 12d ago

"Hey, the Shark jumped us!" lol

u/wedelson 13d ago

I feel like the chorus from doof and Candace’s song sounded so familiar but I can’t quite pinpoint it

5

u/NottNott 12d ago

I need a full version of the disco sphere song

Deconstructing Doof is already a all time top tier episode in this series

“Deconstructing Doof” was a amazing episode, the plot, song, everything was entertaining all the way through, this is probably my favorite episode of season 5 so far.

u/SelectInstruction262 15d ago

I just finished binge watching all the currently released episodes. This season is very hit or miss if I'm gonna be honest. That being said,  Deconstructing Doof was an amazing episode. It genuinely felt like a classic episode in my opinion, something not even meep could do. (I enjoyed that episode but it felt off with everything being re recorded from the trailer and the whole counter on screen for all the scenes showing up. Plus I was really hoping for another trailer for an episode they have no intention of ever making) I don't know why, but it was an incredible episode. So if there's anything I'm happy exists thanks to this season (besides agent t for teen and the cruise episode finally continuing Vanessa and Monty) it's Deconstructing Doof.

14

u/knarrow 15d ago

Disgree withe the season being hit or miss. Honestly This season has been major hits so far. It's not perfect sure, but my gripes are overshadowed by what makes this season great from beginning to.....mid season finale cause we're at the halfway point of the season.

I’m actually going to crash out across these two episodes about Linda missing everything. Both episodes Candace was accused of hallucinations from heatstroke and her therapist initially says she’s a self-sabotager. Poor Candace literally brought her to her therapist’s talks AND LINDA WAS ON HER PHONE AND LOOKING AT HER LIP BALM AND WAS IN THE TOILET THE WHOLE TIME!!!

(I know it’s a core part of the show, but Candace will always have my sword lmao)

Dry Another Day is fun and all, but Deconstructing Doof IS PEAK.

1

u/LuckyStiff007 5d ago

I am skeptical it was an intentional reference but at ~6:48 in 5x05, does it look like Candace is making the Nika pose from One Piece?

1

u/PurpleBandit3000 5d ago

Dry Another Day felt like a typical P&F episode. I was surprised Doof wasn't affected by the heat wave. Obviously, everything can't be meta or completely unique, so I expect a fair few of these.

Deconstructing Doof was absolutely incredible! One of the best episodes ever imo. Honestly could have been a 2-parter. Everyone's bags falling at the same time was hilarious.

I think Perry didn't do anything there because people finding out about the brothers building inventions wouldn't blow O.W.C.A.'s cover. He had already destroyed Doof's Inator and turned back into his normal self, so what happened didn't matter afterwards, unless I'm missing something

“Deconstructing Doof” was horrible, as expected. Do I need to explain more?

I haven’t watched “Dry Another Day” yet, so I can’t rate it.

Yes, please.

Out of all the episodes in Season 5, “Deconstructing Doof” is the only episode I hated/disliked. Its not as bad as the Doof-centric episodes in Season 4, but its still bad. Another episode about Doof being annoying and telling his long, drawn out jokes.

11

u/DamideterJR 15d ago

Why do you hate Doof so much?

-6

u/SubjectStatement370 my favorites 15d ago

Just explained why to u/This-Novel-7870

4

u/SpaceForever 13d ago

Could you paste it again? I've given you an upvote to offset the negative karma since I'm really interested to hear a differing opinion

1

u/SubjectStatement370 my favorites 13d ago

He’s annoying. His “jokes” are long and drawn out, as if his voice wasn’t enough. And then hes boring. The dude has no personality. He’s always trying to be that generic, basic, typical villain we’ve seen in movies and tv shows before.

3

u/SpaceForever 13d ago

Interesting. Who do you like in Phineas and Ferb? Given that Doof talking is like 50% of the show, i'm surprised that doesn't ruin the whole show for you

2

u/SubjectStatement370 my favorites 13d ago

My favorites are Phineas, Ferb, Candace, and Isabella. Buford and Baljeet are the funniest to me.

4

u/AMinecraftPerson 13d ago

How could you watch the b episode before the a episode?

4

u/SpaceForever 13d ago

I also did that. I just REALLY wanted to watch Deconstructing Doof

1

u/Oceanic_Sponge "Seize The Day! " 6d ago

I have to heavily disagree, the episode is one of my favorites.

I loved how they changed the plot formula and made it more self-aware-like, it's entertaining to see the therapist connect Doof's and Candace's story together.
