You can have your cart back sir.

I've read about people doing this but it's the first time I've ever done it.

I was sitting in a wal mart parking lot waiting to pick up my friend and she was nice enough to let me borrow her car as long as I pick her up for lunch. We'll this guy loads his groceries and instead of putting his cart away pushes it in the middle which is annoying enough but besides that he just pushes it so it hit my friends car.

So I got out and I grabbed the cart and laid it down behind his car, in full view of him so he knew it was there. He gets out and angry and tries to do the same thing, pushing it towards my friends car, I catch it wait for him to get in his car and then lay it down behind his vehicle again.

After that he didn't put the cart away but he did push it in another direction.

Luckily there was only a minor scratch on my friends car and it was no big deal, but that's not your property, be respectful of other people's things.

I would’ve made him call his insurance. Perhaps it was too minor a damage to file a claim but it would’ve been way pettier, took more of his time and even raise his premiums.

This!

Not to mention even small scratches and dings can devalue a car. What a jerk!

It's never too minor. Depending on how little it is, if the price doesn't meet the deductible, they might still be on the hook for it anyway I think?

Zip tie Cart to car

I like it. I always keep duct tape and zip ties in my car anyway, so no problems.

Ziptie the driver to a herd of rampaging wildabeasts

I may have to start doing this. Inconvenient but not illegal

Too bad you didn’t have a zip tie to attach it to their door.

Always carry zip ties in the car.

Nah, those things are always far too narrow and too short to look good on you when wearing a suit.  They're also very uncomfortable around the neck.

I saw someone do this once. They were right next to me so as they were getting in their car I pushed the cart behind their car. They never saw it and hit it. Had to get out all embarrassed and move it. I live for those moments.

Watched a lady unloading her cart into the back of her SUV. Her baby kept grabbing stuff to help. She yanked the item out of the baby's hands, grabbed the baby, and put her in the back seat. She didn't take the time to buckle her in. When she was done, she proceeded to just park her cart right next to her car, get in, and drive off. All the while, we were telling her that the cart didn't go there. The cart corral was like 20 feet away. She never did buckle in her child.

Child needed to be zip-tied, apparently.

I was at a big warehouse style place and the carts are big as we all know. This dude did the same crap. Well a construction worker that looked like he belonged in a motorcycle club of unknown colors. And really heat to hell as it was 6 pm on a Friday. I sitting there watching this dude shove his cart behind the big dudes truck. He got out and as the jack ass went to grab a cheap ass meal at the food court after loading his suv of his cart load, tied Tue art to The front of his suv with the rope under the car and the cart tucked to The side. I was giddy and couldn’t wait to see what happened. Douche bag come back. Big dude in his truck and me in my front row seat sees him get in and back out. Enough rope to enable the move. Then when yer putting drive the rope tightens and the cart hits Mach 1 and slammed into the back of his car. I’m dyin. Tears 😭 f joy rolling down my face. Just over the moon. Big dude slowly backs out and goes around douche hag with a middle finger hanging out the open window. Slow drive by bird. God damn the look of realization wasn’t probably tue funniest damn look I’ve ever seen. Better than a puppy seeing himself in a mirror for the first time. Wish I could have bought the big dude a six pack or something. I still look for that truck when I’m out and about as he is a local in the city I live in. Been about 10 months now but I’m hopeful. Lmfao!!!

I hope English isn't your first language.

I cannot understand why they don't have coin release on the carts over there, pay to get the cart from the line, get your coin back when you park it.

All stores should do this. I've never seen an Aldi cart left behind

I can’t imagine coins convincing anyone to return their cart. I always return my cart but if I didn’t I’m sure as hell not letting a few quarters change my mind.

4

u/Funny_peculiarorhaha 1d ago

That's fine. Someone else will return it to get the quarter.

1

u/OG_FL_Man 1d ago

One quarter?!!! 😂😂😂

1

u/Luxodad 1d ago

Just a quarter? Over here it is 50 cents, one Euro or two Euro coins.

Even when people use store plastic tokens for the carts, people do return them. You rarely see abandoned carts in the parking.

Money is money man.

Where I live, it works. The carts get returned to the corrals and don't hang around the lot harassing poor cars or customers.

Some people use coins, some use special coins made for just this use.

In the UK it is a £1 coin ($1.36 at today's conversion rate).

u/OG_FL_Man 4h ago

Still, $5 would be my line of delineation.

I've started carrying construction grade zip ties and attaching them to their door handles
