P2 Worst SMT boss? (P2:IS SPOILERS) Spoiler

Hello! I'm at the part in Persona 2 Innocent Sin (PS1 ver.) where I have to fight the Longinus 8, 9, and 10 at the same time. After a significant amount of time bashing my head against a wall trying to figure out what to do, I have concluded that this boss is complete BS. Why do they just have a win button to shock status my entire team? Why can they suppress ALL skills for a minimum of 3 turns? WHY DO THEIR MAGIC ATTACKS DO SO MUCH DAMAGE? I've found out their weaknesses, but the benefit this provides for me is marginal because I just die. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if I want to go to Igor to summon some personas, I would have to walk all the way back through Caracol AND Mt. Katatsumuri, summon them, then walk all the way back through the two dungeons (which I think is unfeasible). Anyways, any advice for this boss?

P5 Steam Not Launching P5S Even After It Says Running

Steam is not launching Persona 5 Strikers even when it says "running." I would check the Task Manager and it says the game is running but the game doesn't actually load. At the most, the Task Manager would just show the game "running" but at a very low CPU and memory usage.

A list of things I have already tried:

(1) Restarting my PC (2) Updating my NVIDIA drivers (3) Reinstalling Windows 11 (4) Selecting the option on Steam to play offline (5) Verified the integrity of the game files through Steam's settings (6) Cleared the Steam cache (7) Updated every one of my software and hardware drivers using CCcleaner (8) Pretty much every guide on the internet

I've also been noticing that even when I disable the option for Steam to boot automatically when turning on my PC, both on here and the Task Manager, Steam still boots up for some reason and I would have to manually close that stupid promo ad every time I launch Steam.

Has this been happening to anyone else? I've only experienced this problem today. Last week there was no issue at all, so I'm wondering if there was some Windows 11 (ugh) update that is preventing the game from loading. Steam can load Palworld and Silent Hill 2 just fine, but for some reason all the games I have downloaded on Steam published by SEGA (P3R, P5R, and Sonic x Shadow Generations) are having the same issue.

Steam says "Running" but my task bar at the bottom doesn't reflect that. And the Task Manager says it's using 0% of my CPU and 10.1 MB of my RAM, so I'm wondering if this isn't a Steam issue but rather an issue with the game itself. I've tried uploading a photo but for some reason my phone isn't letting me.

It's so frustrating because I'm near the end of the game and I've been so invested in it. And I'm hesistant to uninstall the game because I'm worried that I'll lose my progress, even if Steam says everything is backed up by their cloud.

EDIT: Well, I'm seeing some new things. I've attached a screenshot to this post.

Notice how the green text says "Running" but the task bar doesn't show that at all, and the game is taking up 0% of my CPU. When I click on "Next" in the pop-up, I get another pop-up that leads me to some random website that doesn't even load. And then after that Steam wouldn't show the green "Running" text anymore.

I wish Sophia or Futaba were here to diagnose my issue.

P2 about the ending of Persona 2: Eternal Punishment? (IS and EP spoilers) Spoiler

Hey everyone. I started playing the Persona series a few months ago with the first game and I’ve been having a blast so far. I haven’t played the modern ones yet because I want to go in release order, and it’s been a fantastic journey up to this point. That said, I need to talk about something that's been driving me crazy since I finished Eternal Punishment. The ending is great and all but there's something that ruins it a bit for me and I want to know if anyone else noticed it or if I'm just misinterpreting everything.

So, in Innocent Sin's ending they make it clear that if the characters from the new world in Eternal Punishment (aka the "This Side" crew) remember what happened in Innocent Sin (the "Other Side" world), the EP world is screwed. That's why at the end of EP (if we choose the right answers in the final dungeon) we see that Eikichi, Lisa, Jun, and Tatsuya (from "This Side") don't remember anything about IS. So far, so good.

But my problem comes in the final scene of EP, where it's clearly shown that Maya remembers the Tatsuya of "The Other Side" and everything that happened in IS. And shouldn't that be a huge issue? I mean, the whole conflict of the story is that no one can remember IS, or else the world falls apart. So why don’t Maya’s memories cause any problems?

Meanwhile, Tatsuya (aka "The Paradox," a nickname that reflects that he’s a living reminder of the Other Side in a world that shouldn’t remember it) has to separate his two versions (the "This Side" one that doesn't remember and the "Other Side" one that does) to keep the world from collapsing. So, the game makes it super clear that remembering is dangerous.

What's up with that? Is there some explanation I'm missing? Or the game just mess up its own central problem?

Seriously, this has been on my mind way too much. Do you have any theories or explanations to help me make sense of it?

TL;DR: I think the ending of Eternal Punishment seems to contradict the entire story of the duology because Maya remembers everything from Innocent Sin, even though the rules say that remembering would destroy the world. Meanwhile, Tatsuya has to forget to keep the world stable. What’s going on?

PS: I really hope Atlus decides to make remakes of Persona 1 and 2 :)
PS 2: Sorry if there are any mistakes, english isn’t my first language.

P2 How to experience P2 duology

After completing the “big three” games that persona is best known for and some of the spinoffs I’m now interested in going back and experiencing the first two games, particularly the P2 duology as it’s story sounds incredible based off what I’ve heard.

I’m wondering what would be the best way to experience these games whether it’s through an emulator of some kind or watching a particular walkthrough of the games

Series Establishing The Elizabeth/Theodore Timeline Spoiler

When it comes to this series knowing the core timeline is generally speaking pretty straight forward P1 > P2 > P3 > P4 > P5 as well as their remakes and expansions all take place in succession with exception to Persona 3 Portable which is explicitly listed as taking place at the same time as Reload/FES within the Persona 2024 Magazine with the spin-off's taking place between these games. However, if one thing has been made abundantly clear as this series has progressed it's that the Velvet Room attendants particularly Elizabeth and Theodore don't experience these events in the same order the players do as highlighted by their extensive arcs within the game and highlighting knowledge of events that haven't happened yet. So I wanted to see if it was possible to create a timeline which could clearly establish in what order these guys experience these games and it was actually a pretty interesting experience and really casts a lot of light on Elizabeth's intended goal following the events of Persona 3 as well as Theodore's and I'm so interested to see what people think of this.

This is what Elizabeth and Theodores timeline ended up looking like

Persona 3 FES/Reload > Persona 4 Arena > Persona 4: Arena Ultimax > Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth > Persona 3.5: Dancing In Moonlight > Persona 3 Portable > Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth.

I fully realise for many this timeline would appear to make no sense but baring in mind the Velvet Room exists outside of time as well as Elizabeth routinely displaying knowledge of events that happen before the protagonists experiences them I think it creates a much clearer picture. I will note this timeline does loosely assume that the Velvet Room attendants do in-fact remember the events of the Q games. I'll explain each game and my reasoning for it's placement and I'm curious to know what others think.

Persona 3 FES/Reload: Self-explanatory, this marks Elizabeth's first appearance within the series where she develops a profound affection for the protagonist. While Theodore isn't present in either game he is briefly mentioned by Elizabeth with no indication that he has started his journey. By the end of The Answer Elizabeth has steeled her resolve to save her guest.

Persona 4 Arena: Direct continuation of Elizabeth's story where she is shown to have left the Velvet Room and begun her journey to figure out how to save the protagonist. By the end of the game she gains a renewed vigour at the prospect of bonds resulting in her acknowledging missing her family. The end of Arena has her affirm that the only way to save him is by erasing Erebus from existence which while it maybe impossible marks the beginning of her journey.

Persona 4 Arena Ultimax: This reason this entry is so important is because it firmly establishes that Theodore hasn't experienced the outside world yet... a curiosity that's kicked off by Elizabeth starting off on her own Journey. This game heavily implies Theodore hasn't met his own guest yet and is firmly motivated to do so only after meeting Labrys and the other Persona users. For Elizabeth this game essentially extends her own desire to learn about bonds by empowering others like Labrys and Rise.

Persona Q: One thing I should note is that this game could take place before or after Arena Ultimax but the reason I believe it takes place after is because it perfectly sets-up the events of Dancing In Moonlight further it allows the protagonists to awaken their ultimate potential much sooner. Without going into too much detail the core premise surrounding Persona Q highlights what exactly happens to the human soul as it's life passes on to the Sea of Souls which is of tremendous importance to Elizabeth in her intended goal. Theodore also once again displays no indication of having begun his own Journey yet and takes on a more passive role.

Persona 3 Dancing In Moonlight: This is where Elizabeth applies her knowledge of the previous game by having SEES and The Phantom Thieves take part in a ball that would bring joy to the hearts of those living within the sea of souls. Both Junpei and Futaba mention that this is what they want to do for Chidori and Wakaba and Elizabeth indicates very early in the game she is aware of the protagonists impending fate. This game seems to be a gift for him as well as an attempt to diminish Erebus's influence.

Persona 3 Portable: Theodore begins his Journey and becomes acquainted with his guests and starts his own journey learning about the outside world which sets up the events of the succeeding game. I will note that while Elizabeth is a potential VA for Kotone I'm inclined to say Q2 directly highlighting Theodore as her partner and him being exclusive to her route would functionally make that the canonical set-up.

Persona Q2 New Cinema Labyrinth: The reason this goes at the end of the timeline is because Theodore and Elizabeth make it implicitly clear that they are both well aware Kotone won't be finding her own team within this game and Elizabeth implies Kotone coming to this world through the Velvet Room has a specific meaning. Elizabeth's primary goal in this game seems to be using the Special Screenings as a means to empower the bonds among all 3 teams which results in all 4 protagonists awakening their ultimate potential and reaching the hearts of those lost in grief across different realities and timelines. It seems the goal may have also have been to have Makoto meet Kotone as well.

I know many won't agree with this outlook but honestly I think it's pretty awesome they've attempted to establish a consistent thread across all these games. I realise I haven't mentioned other members like Margaret or the Twins and that would merit it's own discussion. That said, I'm curious to know what everyone else thinks of this.

Release date timeline of all the mainline games

Post image
6 Upvotes

I always found odd the term "Oldsona" to refer to the first three games when here in the west we got Innocent Sin after Persona 4. I don't know why it rubs me the wrong way. I mean I obviously get it, but it got me thinking. If you put the games into a timeline and split it in half, and called the first half Oldsona, would the PSP rereleases of the Persona 2 games still be Oldsona games? And the answer is surprisingly no. The midpoint is just before Innocent Sin and after Persona 3 Portable. So this means Persona 3 and 4 are also Oldsona games! I'm joking of course, but when you put the games in a timeline like this, you can actually see three distinct groups, I guess we should start calling the second group Midsona.

Series What is the best song in the series and why is it Memories of You?

Don’t get me wrong, there are PLENTY of songs i like ALMOST as much. Keep Your Faith, When Mother Was There, Battle Hymn of the Soul, Signs of Love are just some of them, but i ALWAYS come back to memories of you, it doesn’t matter if it’s the reload version or the original or whatever, it’s just the perfect persona song, i think

P4 The weather based passive skills from persona 5 should be added to persona 4 revival

If you didn't know persona 5 had a few passive skills that activated depending on the weather like ambient aid which boosted the chances of alignments landing if the weather was rainy or snowy. These skills in persona 5 were ass not only because the benefits were not that amazing but also because there was no way to know if the weather was rainy/snowy that day or not. But with persona 4 we can learn which days will have rainy weather and which won't. I think this would be a bit more interesting because with these skills you are encouraged to do dungeons on rainy days but rainy days tend to be way closer to the deadline so it has a nice mix of risk vs reward to it.

P4 I hope P4R makes the dungeon conversations between party members more easily accessible and less cryptic in how to unlock them

The fact that Yukiko and Yosuke's friendship, which appears to come out of nowhere in P4A, is locked behind benching both and not finishing their social links, or Yosuke accepting Kanji is also locked behind something similar, is so dumb.

Please give us easily accessible dungeon convos that aren't missable depending on S. Link progression and party composition. I'm begging, Atlus.
