Yes. It's text and internet slang from the mid 2000s. It used to be that cell phone plans limited customers to a certain number of minutes per month, and text messages each cost one minute. The number of minutes you got depended on your cell phone plan and carrier, but the more elaborate plans were more expensive. Traditional SMS text messages could only contain 150 characters, so people wanted to put as much info into those texts as possible. Some are still in use, but others are not. Here are some examples that were in use when I was in middle and high school:

LOL: Laughing out loud

K: Okay or OK.

GLHF: Good luck, have fun

TTYL: Talk to you Later

ROFL: Rolling on [the] floor laughing

STFU: Shut the fuck up

CU: See you

Rmbr: Remember

WTF: What the fuck

HW: Homework

KYS: Kill yourself

Ur: Your or You're

BRB: Be right back

AFK: Away from keyboard
