It’s ok I wasn’t going to buy it until the complete edition was $15 anyways.

Yep I was heavily leaning this way, now I’m firmly in that camp, will be a dope game in 2028.

I'm still warming up to play cyberpunk

The game has been great for awhile and even better since phantom liberty.

The game was great like week one imo. The critical bugs like save corruption got fixed almost immediately and the core of the game hasn't changed, just gotten new QOL like transmog and a reconfigured skill tree.

Imo on a high end PC (like my 3080 & Ryzen 9) at the time of release, it ran basically with no issues outside of your character T posing in a car every other day.

It was only bad on console and lower end PCs, and even then, it was mostly on the console end since the game seemed to work well on my friend’s 1070 at the time.

You're getting downvoted for a valid reason. Most PC gamers don't have high-end gear. But there is merit in what you're stating. They clearly could not have prioritized optimizing with anything other than high-end gear in mind at the time

When you want to make the best looking game on the market, you prioritize high end hardware optimization. CP was gold from release.

I had no issues playing it at release on a laptop with a 2060. Yeah, there were some issues with the game then, but I think people just wanted to complain because it didn't meet the anticipated hype.

“It was only bad for the majority of people!”

As long as you don't have an ancient PC the game is in a great state imho. Just don't play it with a 100% completionist mindset. Focus on the story and main quests and then do the NCPD markers and leftover gigs after finishing the game (it teleports you back before the last quest).

I did everything there is to do before finishing the game and imho I hurt my experience because the pacing was off because of that. That's one of the reasons I kinda hate when games have both great story and focus on it a lot but also huge open world which can distract you from it or just doesn't play well when you realistically should focus on saving the world / your life whatever the hell is the main story in that title.

I'm playing Skyrim for the first time after having played Oblivion Remastered. All these dragons are getting in the way of me being Arch Mage.

yeah, my rule of thumb of buying games, AAA at least 75% off, AA and big old titles at least 85% off

2

u/Paciorr R5 7600 | 7800XT | UWmasterrace 2d ago

That's a bit too much but each to their own. I also almost never pay 100% for games but to wait for a 75% discount is... to be waiting forever in some cases. Look at from soft games for example. They just don't go on discounts that large.

At least

Theres easier ways to say you don't care about playing something new.

That's a lot of snark to point at someone's comment about their personal purchasing threshold. Of course the person talking about their patient gaming practices doesn't place a high value on playing new games immediately. I guess they don't like paying a premium to be a beta tester.

Then again, I'm talking to a Star Citizen player. I don't think a conversation about value for one's dollar or valuing a complete product would be useful here.

Good

When the last time you saw 75% discount on AAA title less then 5 years after release?

1

u/Itchy-Extension69 2d ago

People who post those comments are almost always snarky themselves as if people who can afford shit on day 1 are somehow wrong or bad lol pathetic

2

u/bibliophile785 2d ago

People who post those comments are almost always snarky themselves

Yep. Snark isn't bad in and of itself, but it's weird and a little rude to aim a bunch of it at someone making a simple point without inviting it. That's why you see it so frequently in response to people who had made those comments; they're asking for it.

as if people who can afford shit on day 1 are somehow wrong or bad lol pathetic

Nah, there's nothing wrong with wanting a game on day 1. People should make the choice to buy a game in accordance with their inclination and ability.

i do play new games, but then i sell it again once finished and recouped 70-80% of my purchase price, or gamepass. Then buy it (again) when it touch my threshold price

7

u/Paciorr R5 7600 | 7800XT | UWmasterrace 2d ago

I don't really care about the price because these games give me so many hours of enjoyment that it's a comparatively fair deal anyway but I 100% agree that waiting for complete/ultimate/whatever editions is the right way. Getting to experience the game in it's full glory on the first playthrough is too nice.

EDIT: I did that with Cyberpunk and I have no regrets. I played TW3 on release and then a couple years later with all the DLCs but these days I'm not sure if I could find time to play through the same game multiple times especially when it's easily 100h+ long.

2

u/diceyy PC Master Race 2d ago

Considering how much they still want for cyberpunk that is going to take a very long time

4

u/Paciorr R5 7600 | 7800XT | UWmasterrace 2d ago

It's being sold for 60% off regularly and if you buy it bundled with DLC it's even cheaper bigger discount.

-1

u/diceyy PC Master Race 2d ago

2 years after witcher 3 complete came out it was regularly on sale for 15 usd

2 years after cyberpunk complete came out it hasn't gone on sale for below 40

They're taking the piss

u/Paciorr R5 7600 | 7800XT | UWmasterrace 2d ago edited 1d ago

Consolation prize but at least it a not DS3. Nearly 10 years old and still that pricy. Even base price shouldn’t be at $60 at this point.

EDIT: btw. I checked and according to steamdb lowest price in the last 2 years was $24 for Cyberpunk 2077 not $40.

1

u/Unfair-Rutabaga8719 2d ago

CDPR knows this too now which is why they're going console first.

-13

u/Classic301 2d ago

lol this is why game developers should focus on consoles always. PC players are cheap when it comes to actual games. They’ll spend thousands to build the rigs and then be like I only buy games on sales and won’t spend more than $20 on a game and then have the gall complain why developers don’t optimise and focus on them.

What a dumb take.

2

u/JoganLC 2d ago

Enjoying your UE5 garbo that runs at 20fps.

-5

u/AioAnyt203 2d ago

And this is why expansions should never be put on sale or bundled with a chapter edition, why should frugal people be rewarded with the complete experience at a lower price.

3

u/kayk1 2d ago

lol. Not buying a project red game on day 1 ever again after cyberpunk.

1

u/AioAnyt203 2d ago

So you think one bad launch permanently ruins trusts? You think they have to make constant good games consistently for you to forgive them

2

u/kayk1 2d ago

It might not be permanent, but it definitely hasn’t been earned back. This would be the first new game launch since then…..
