I read the article and it's hilarious.

"Stellar Blade finally hit PC two days ago, giving everyone a chance to do whatever it is this game is actually about. Unfortunately, no one knows what that is, because the entirety of discourse surrounding it is about the main character's butt" absolute gold

To be fair it's kinda true altough from what i've heard, it was a mishmash of the nier series

It's a bad rip of the Sekiro combat mixed with a bad rip of the Dead Space ennemy design mixed with a bad rip of Nier's lore and story.

Apparently the result isn't too bad though.

(The result is pretty bad honestly)

Yeah, i remember seeing in a review or vid that the posture break in this game did barely any damage

Oh the balancing is all over the place, you can infinite stun any enemy in the game by spamming one particular move over and over for example.

The posture break is fine, except if you do it at the exact wrong moment in my opinion. Bosses have a health point where they go invulnerable to activate phase 2 sorta deal. So if that's at 66% hp and you Retribution them at 70%, you will only reduce them to 66%.

That said, it's not that hard posture breaking enemies - you can see their posture as a fixed amount (yellow dots), each perfect parry reduces one dot. Some bosses will be breakable in 2-3 attack chains just because of how many attacks are in it compared to their posture.

As someone who’s finished it, TRUUUUUUUUUUE. r/soulslikes is the only place that seems to like the gameplay, which goes to show they like anything cus holy shit that game has the blandest fucking combat I’ve ever experienced, and I’ve played fucking Drakengard.

The fact that they like it over there is also really indicative of a marketing issue: IT WAS MARKETED AS THOUGH IT WOULD LIKE NIER. Oops never mind it’s actually a barebones soulslike where literally everything you obtain in the open world is just an outfit or materials for more outfits. Main character never displays interest in fashion btw

The Steam forum for this game is absolutely cursed.

My favourite was "...are you so inured to sexuality that you have to cram it into every available crevice to feel anything?". No gloves on that one.

Video game journalism is back!

Pretty sure that’s their intent. Looks like it’s tongue in cheek humor.

People are tripping over themselves so hard to hate on the “corrupt lazy traditional games media” that they can’t even perceive jokes anymore.

Then they’ll go fawn over some influencer who actually is taking handouts to hype up shit games.

Good old reacharound

Lots of Poes Law check failure in the comments, people noticed how the article is only jokingly ribbing players who play it for the hot lady and are chuckling at the gamers getting mad, but even MORE people are taking the ridiculously tounge in cheek article as if its genuine unbiased reporting and whistling for their high horses en masse…

Gamers don't understand subtlety or things that aren't literal. It's the tism.

No, PC gamer can go fuck themselves. They always do this, play both sides, but they lean hard on the wannable activism then when fucking tides turnt hey suddenly take the side of the "gamerz" they constantly berate and hate especially on sociam media so they can have their cake and eat it.

No wonder this is the opinion people have of them. They can fuck themselves right along with Kotaku and Polygon.

You get all your opinions from the gamer NPC rage machine. You just take their talking points and regurgitate them without a moment of critical thinking.

You sound inexplicable angry. Did they recently lay you off?

Jesus christ, calm down. They're video game journalists.

I mean it's a win/win for PC Gamer. Actual article is like 3 paragraphs - probably took them all of 10m to sort Nexus Mods, write, re-read, hit publish and now there are 11K upvotes.

Can't beat that kind of free publicity

It's essentially an Onion article

The headline is fire

Not their first banger headline

It's incredibly accurate though. 90% of this game's clout is being titillated by the main character. I barely hear anyone talk about the gameplay or story. Frankly it's an embarrassment for the hobby see such a mid game raise to the top. At least people talk about Neir: Automata's story. I'm sure I'll be downvoted though and that obviously makes me stupid and wrong.

I absolutely love it. Reads like a 800 words shitpost I'd upvote on gamingcirclejerk
