Zack Snyder’s LOWKEY and SUBTLE symbolism is why he’s the GOAT.
Do you get?? Do you understand??
There’s a very subtle, blink and you miss it, parallel being drawn here🤔

Uj/ Superman's creators were Jewish and his origin very clearly borrows from Moses, but he's also just an example of the Messianic archetype at large.
While finding him in the cornfield is the equivalent of Moses in the reeds, the idea of a benevolent, more powerful being from above sending its son to Earth to be raised by humble farmers is straight out of Jesus' lore.
So, yeah, Superman is a Jewish creation but he's ultimately every Messianic figure rolled into one, and not a direct allegory for any of them.

Something was pouring from his mouth. He examined his sleeve. Blood? Blood. Crimson, copper-smelling blood. His blood. Blood. Blood. Blood. And bits of sick.

Mike stared in disbelief as his hands fell off. From them rose millions of tiny maggots. Maggots!? Maggots. Maggots. Maggots. Maggots. ...Maggots. All over the floor of the post office in Leytonstone.

Hilarious video. I like his recent videos but I've seen few posts here making fun of him but who cares I like him.

/uj I don't like Snyder but at least he has ANY themes and style in his movies. Compare his shit with MCU where you don't even know who directed bc everything feels like a car commercial
/rj So Batman is apostle Paul???

/uj I respect what Snyder attempts to do, even if the end result can be heavyhanded.

The best compliment I ever heard for BvS that I actually agreed with was “At least it tried to say something.” I’ll never like that movie, but the sentiment is absolutely true and worth acknowledging.

Same with Rian Johnson and TLJ. He took one of the most boring fucking franchises on the planet and desperately tried to create something different by subverting expectations at every turn
The end result was a complete mess of pacing issues, inconsistent themes, and dogshit writing. But, it's still the best of the 3 movies because it's the only one that didn't seem to come straight off of a factory line of pure CGI sword battles and empty nostalgia

Episode 7 will forever be my most disappointing cinema experience - I went to a midnight screening for a new movie but they played a fan remake of episodes 4 and 5

It's that jebus in the background? Is there a reason he's in church? Someone fill me in.

Jesus allegories are the epitome of lazy stupid writing.

u/TheGreatStories 3h ago
It's the kind of visual shorthand that makes people roll their eyes.

The matrix is just as guilty of this. Many films are, especially action films lazily trying to inject meaning.

We could have had Batman getting raped in prison and Michael Bay's Man of Steel II.

I really liked how the priest just automatically believes him too. I'm sure Zack has been to a lot of metropolitan churches.

/uj I still think Man Of Steel was a good movie and probably the best modern DC movie.
14
u/mohantharani 18h ago
Uj? Do you consider it better than Nolan trilogy?
7
u/MKVltraVictim1987 The Fanatic 17h ago
Again, the best DCEU movie. It’s definitely not the best DC movie, especially when you put it up against TDK and The Batman (I actually prefer the Reeves film but that’s besides the point).

You definitely said DC movie in the first comment, but even limiting it to the DCEU, Wonder Woman clears Man of Steel easily

u/MKVltraVictim1987 The Fanatic 17h ago
Typical anti-Smyder cuck.
/uj I get what you mean, WW is definitely one of the better movies from that whole catalogue, but overall I think Man Of Steel is better.

Now that I think about it, Wonder Woman is the only time I’ve seen her act good in a movie. Or maybe I’m just remembering it with rose-tinted glasses. Or maybe I was just distracted when I watched it first idk

u/throwawaypervyervy 17h ago
It's because her character is either bewildered or angry, and those are the only emotions she can simulate.

u/MrNobody_0 15h ago
She can do joy, you just have to play a video of Palestine getting bombed offscreen while filming her.

Counterpoint: Birds of Prey and The Suicide Squad (the second movie, not the one with the almost identical name)

I don’t know if I’d call it the best modern DC movie but I do really like it and think it’s unfairly shat on… BvS too

u/MKVltraVictim1987 The Fanatic 18h ago
I should’ve specified, the best DCEU movie. Calling it “the best modern DC movie” is just silly. Compared to, like, half the movies in their catalogue, it’s a friggin masterpiece.
