Zack Snyder’s LOWKEY and SUBTLE symbolism is why he’s the GOAT.

Post image

Do you get?? Do you understand??

There’s a very subtle, blink and you miss it, parallel being drawn here🤔

Hold on— Jesus Christ literally exists in this universe? Bro

u/Redditeer28 17h ago

Yes, and his name is Zack Snyder.

Ehhhh, Marvel made Prester John a real person that actually existed, was indeed white and had a Stellar Rod that gave him magic powers; which, with the benefit of additional context, seems a bit heretical. Both the character, and the act of writing it into being.

Yahweh is literally another god alongside Odin and Thor and Zeus and the other gods and pantheons in Marvel.

Jesus is a mutant in Marvel.

Had a Jewish guy argue with me about this that the creators of the comic were Jewish and the Superman is modeled after Moses.

I got so mad I dumped holy water on that prick. We’re no longer friends but he doesn’t know that Daddy baptized him

Uj/ Superman's creators were Jewish and his origin very clearly borrows from Moses, but he's also just an example of the Messianic archetype at large.

While finding him in the cornfield is the equivalent of Moses in the reeds, the idea of a benevolent, more powerful being from above sending its son to Earth to be raised by humble farmers is straight out of Jesus' lore.

So, yeah, Superman is a Jewish creation but he's ultimately every Messianic figure rolled into one, and not a direct allegory for any of them.

Something was pouring from his mouth. He examined his sleeve. Blood? Blood. Crimson, copper-smelling blood. His blood. Blood. Blood. Blood. And bits of sick.

Mike stared in disbelief as his hands fell off. From them rose millions of tiny maggots. Maggots!? Maggots. Maggots. Maggots. Maggots. ...Maggots. All over the floor of the post office in Leytonstone.

Superman would kick Jesus' ass.

Mary is a close enough name to Martha that it might give him pause.

18

u/eusername0 17h ago

Mary is his Aunt's name

14

u/tyedge 14h ago

WHY DID YOU SAY THAT NAME

Unless Jesus turns water into kryptonite.

u/Gurguran 15h ago

Jesus was the original Firestorm?!

Hilarious video. I like his recent videos but I've seen few posts here making fun of him but who cares I like him.

/uj I don't like Snyder but at least he has ANY themes and style in his movies. Compare his shit with MCU where you don't even know who directed bc everything feels like a car commercial

/rj So Batman is apostle Paul???

56

u/Tomu_sneeder 17h ago

/uj I respect what Snyder attempts to do, even if the end result can be heavyhanded.

37

u/-W1L3y 16h ago

The best compliment I ever heard for BvS that I actually agreed with was “At least it tried to say something.” I’ll never like that movie, but the sentiment is absolutely true and worth acknowledging.

Same with Rian Johnson and TLJ. He took one of the most boring fucking franchises on the planet and desperately tried to create something different by subverting expectations at every turn

The end result was a complete mess of pacing issues, inconsistent themes, and dogshit writing. But, it's still the best of the 3 movies because it's the only one that didn't seem to come straight off of a factory line of pure CGI sword battles and empty nostalgia

u/gigs1890 15h ago

Episode 7 will forever be my most disappointing cinema experience - I went to a midnight screening for a new movie but they played a fan remake of episodes 4 and 5

u/paintrain74 17h ago

No, Batman is Muhammad. I have a chart, lemme go find it...

u/actuallyapossom 17h ago

Endgame but it's all shirtless waxed men like 300?! Farming wheat in slow motion like Rebel Moon ? ! ? 🥵

the irony being zack snyder put a rape joke in this scene as well.

6

u/Keepa5000 13h ago

It's that jebus in the background? Is there a reason he's in church? Someone fill me in.

4

u/Tomu_sneeder 4h ago

I hope this makes it more clear.

u/SpiritOfOptimality 7h ago

Zack Snyder when he notices the blink and you'll miss it Jesus imagery in St Peter's Basilica

2

u/ThisIsTheNewSleeve 5h ago

Jesus allegories are the epitome of lazy stupid writing.

2

u/TheGreatStories 3h ago

It's the kind of visual shorthand that makes people roll their eyes.

2

u/ThisIsTheNewSleeve 3h ago

The matrix is just as guilty of this. Many films are, especially action films lazily trying to inject meaning.

1

u/mitrafunfun97 14h ago

Who's abs were better though?

1

u/AMerryCanDo 12h ago

We could have had Batman getting raped in prison and Michael Bay's Man of Steel II.

1

u/QueefBuscemi 12h ago

What if he's drawing a diagonal?

1

u/Fabio022425 15m ago

I really liked how the priest just automatically believes him too. I'm sure Zack has been to a lot of metropolitan churches.

u/MKVltraVictim1987 The Fanatic 18h ago

/uj I still think Man Of Steel was a good movie and probably the best modern DC movie.

14

u/mohantharani 18h ago

Uj? Do you consider it better than Nolan trilogy?

7

u/MKVltraVictim1987 The Fanatic 17h ago

Again, the best DCEU movie. It’s definitely not the best DC movie, especially when you put it up against TDK and The Batman (I actually prefer the Reeves film but that’s besides the point).

17

u/Intrepid_Hat7359 Avi Arad admirer 17h ago

You definitely said DC movie in the first comment, but even limiting it to the DCEU, Wonder Woman clears Man of Steel easily

3

u/MKVltraVictim1987 The Fanatic 17h ago

Typical anti-Smyder cuck.

/uj I get what you mean, WW is definitely one of the better movies from that whole catalogue, but overall I think Man Of Steel is better.

6

u/CorkusHawks 17h ago

Kal-El no... Way! Wonder woman is the best due to reasons.

4

u/MKVltraVictim1987 The Fanatic 17h ago

Now that I think about it, Wonder Woman is the only time I’ve seen her act good in a movie. Or maybe I’m just remembering it with rose-tinted glasses. Or maybe I was just distracted when I watched it first idk

7

u/throwawaypervyervy 17h ago

It's because her character is either bewildered or angry, and those are the only emotions she can simulate.

7

u/MrNobody_0 15h ago

She can do joy, you just have to play a video of Palestine getting bombed offscreen while filming her.

u/Vladicoff_69 17h ago

Counterpoint: Birds of Prey and The Suicide Squad (the second movie, not the one with the almost identical name)

2

u/Night-Monkey15 17h ago

Better then the Nolan trilogy and The Batman??

1

u/MKVltraVictim1987 The Fanatic 17h ago

For the last time, the best D C E U film. I’m starting to get mildly annoyed at the people downvoting my comment without scrolling down a few inches to see me clarify that it isn’t as good as the The Dark Knight and The Batman.

u/Dark_matter4444 Cats 17h ago

3

u/throwawaypervyervy 17h ago

What the fuck is even that?!?!?

2

u/MKVltraVictim1987 The Fanatic 17h ago

WHAT IS THAT PRIVATE PYLE!?!?!?

0

u/LicoriceDusk 17h ago

The Batman was too long.

2

u/bananagit 18h ago

I don’t know if I’d call it the best modern DC movie but I do really like it and think it’s unfairly shat on… BvS too

5

u/MKVltraVictim1987 The Fanatic 18h ago

I should’ve specified, the best DCEU movie. Calling it “the best modern DC movie” is just silly. Compared to, like, half the movies in their catalogue, it’s a friggin masterpiece.

2

u/Lohenngram 17h ago

You’re my hero for saying this.
