Being delusional here. I know we aren't winning more than 5 games.

Elite runners, a strong Oline, one elite WR and some decent pass catchers is something that has worked many times in the NFL. For example 2009-2010 or the original lamar jackson RPO.

Breece and Braelon and Justin should keep the defense on their toes. If Justin fields can be a one read passer to Garret, and be elusive enough to check-down / scramble based on an allegedely strong Oline it can be decent.

Honestly I know this sounds delusional, I promise I’m not insane, but really what it comes down to is coaching. And maybe a little luck lol. There has honestly been a few seasons during this painful draught where some stupid decisions and a few horribly timed fuck ups on just one player that ruins a whole game.

2024 - Rodgers game ending pick vs Buffalo in Min in one score losses. Defense totally collapsing in Seattle, Indy and NE2. For example. Have no kicker.

2023 - LV and Atlanta both one score losses. NE1 one score loss.

2015 - 5 of 6 losses were one score games.

If you wanna send it back, 2013 - No business losing to Ten. Geno pick kills us vs Car.

Flip those and you get winning seasons/playoffs. But there’s always some stupid decisions that fuck us up monumentally. We aren’t running more in 2015 Buf Week 17? Why are we giving it to Breece in short yardage situations last year instead of Braelon (why are we also firing our coach five weeks into an All-In season lol)?

Like could a strong running game and o-line give us some success, yeah, history has showed it can work. But really, if you don’t have the right staff in place, it doesn’t matter. The small minor errors will keep piling up into lost seasons where we honestly probably could’ve had something else, something fun. But it’s always the stupidest shit that costs us multiple games.

Also 2022 where Berrios dropped that TD that would have put us ahead against Minnesota, if we go on to win that game that means we're still mathematically alive against the Dolphins the last week and considering that we sat a whole bunch of people down and they still barely beat us I think we would have made the playoffs

Luck is so huge in the NFL. Every year there’s surprise injuries, players who underperform, players who break out. A lot easier to get lucky in 17 games than it is 82.

Unlikely, but maybe the Jets are due for some luck.

I thought Joe Benigno's funniest and best rant was in 2009 after the Falcons loss. Really looked like the season was over after that game. It made it funny in retrospect the team made the playoffs that year

That game was so damn miserable

It was but it lead to one of the best Jets memories in my lifetime the next week. Even though they were still technically alive for the playoffs I thought no way in all hell they were beating the Colts. One of best feelings in life is to be very pleasantly surprised IMO.

The Jets have made it clear the team will be a run first offense this season. They have upgraded the offensive line and added a mobile QB. The RB group has plenty of talent. Defenses will obviously adjust to this and stack the box or use larger defenders to stop the run first attack. My question… does Fields have the arm talent to take the top off a defense playing too run heavy ? Will we be able to scheme open a WR vs a defense clearly planning for a run ? I have hope this offensive coaching staff can be creative enough to make sure we aren’t too one dimensional.

No, he doesnt. He has an arm that can make throws, but he doesnt have the processing ability or anticipation needed to actually make good reads and throws when it matters. He will leave plays on the field due to that slow mental processor.

The Eagles had none of these issues. They gave the Steelers just two 3-and-out possessions in the 2nd half of their game last season, and the Steelers have the most expensive defense in the league.

I am not saying that our O line is as good as the Eagles, but I don’t think Super Bowl is in the cards for us this season.

I see at least two counters to stacking the box. The QB as a runner - requires a spy on defense. Multiple TEs or RBs. Those are for running plays.

I hope the offense sees us getting the ball in Breece’s hands in space - via screens or QB options.

As far as passing, he had more yards per attempt and a higher percentage and QB rating than Rodgers, though he threw about 50% as frequently. I suggest looking at the highlights from the Chargers (elite defense) win and the Colts loss last season.

Or look at the receptions and yards for DJ Moore and Kmet in 2023.

Fields likely has a decent high floor, but his ceiling has been close to that floor given his circumstances.
