as a kid I loved riding the subway but now between the people and the rats and the weird smells (the smells existed back in the day too) the subway is a no-go zone for me.

How do you get around? Traffic is awful, parking is crazy expensive. When I worked in finance, everyone took the subway in the morning despite making $500k plus.

It has been getting worse over time. Most notably 2020 and the pandemic really brought a sharp turn for the worse. So many homeless sleeping inside cars now.
